Meet the Tutors
Our Sylvan trained and certified tutors are dedicated to your child’s success. Working together with you, we will:

Jane Henderson Roy, B.A., B.Ed.
Director of Education
Jane has been with Sylvan since July 1999. She began teaching in the Dartmouth Centre before moving into a Test Administrator/Lead Instructor role in Halifax in April 2000. Jane became the Centre Director of the newly opened Bedford centre in January 2001 and returned to Dartmouth as Centre Director in August 2004. In May 2006, Jane became the Regional Director of Education and moved to Halifax again. In September 2008, Jane moved back to Dartmouth as Centre Director.
Kathleen Woods, B.A., B.Ed.
Education Coordinator
Kathy is a dynamic teacher with a passion for learning. She has shared this passion through Sylvan since 2003. She has also taught grades 7-12 in the Halifax Regional School Board and at a private school. Kathy's volunteer experience is richly varied, from youth programs to literacy tutoring. In her free time she enjoys yoga, outdoor activities and spending time with her young family.
Jenn Newton, B.Sc., B.Ed.
Instructor
Jenn recently moved to Nova Scotia from Ontario where she completed her Honours Bachelor of Science at the University of Ottawa as well as her Bachelor of Education at Nipissing University. Jenn also brings with her to Sylvan experience as a Youth Worker Leader in the Youth Opportunities Strategy, which further developed her skills in working with youth ranging in age from 15-18 to develop both work and life skills to ensure success with future goals.
Jenni Peach, B.Sc., B.Ed.
Instructor
Jenni comes to Sylvan having graduated with first class honours from Mount Saint Vincent University with her Bachelor of Education. Prior to obtaining her education degree, Jenni completed her Bachelor of Science at Mount Saint Vincent University. Jenni's education, her passion for teaching, and her volunteer experience make her a great addition to the Sylvan Dartmouth team.
