Success Stories

Math Success!

"Thanks for everything, the progress has been fantastic. In fact, the other day when most of his class `BOMBED` their math test, Tyler made 90%!"

Sylvan Online + Hard Work = Success

"I came to the Dartmouth Sylvan with my Grade 10 daughter looking for a
solution to her difficulties with math. I was told that there was an
option to do her studies online. I have to say that although it was the
only option for us, I was a little unsure. After going through the
summer months with the online program, I must admit that I was
pleasantly surprised to find the progress and complete confidence that
my daughter had achieved. I truly believe that this option would have
been the best for her even if there was a school close by. She thrived
in this environment and I am proud to say that she is now at the proper
level for her grade, all because of Sylvan. She not only accomplished
this but she made contacts all over the world where she could tell her
story. My daughter did this because of hard work, but Sylvan gave her
the proper tools to help her achieve it.

Thanks Sylvan for bringing out the student that I knew my daughter
always was."

A Joyous Moment

"I had a very joyous moment yesterday when Mitchell came home from school. He had some math homework to do; he was enthused about doing it because he actually understood it and said that yesterday in math class he got all his work right. As a parent with a child who has struggled with math for years, I cannot express how good it felt to hear my son say ‘I get it’!! I just want to say a big thank you to Sylvan for helping Mitchell gain this confidence."

Getting Ready for Highschool Math

"My daughter had not grasped the basics in math for her to excel entering into high school. We enrolled her in Sylvan and she excelled in no time with the low teacher/student ratio, and she was given the tools and attention she needed to enter confidently into high school. She enjoyed it so much that she has requested, if she runs into problems again, to return to Sylvan. No problem there! I found Sylvan management and staff very approachable to deal with and assist with cancellations and rebookings when they arose. I would highly recommend Sylvan to any families that have children who are experiencing difficulties in their education programs."

Sylvan Dartmouth - The Fun School

"Emma is so excited about coming back to Sylvan in the summer. She
really enjoys going to Sylvan; in fact, she always asks me when she can
go back to fun school."

Testimonial from a Military Family

"During moves due to postings there are many stresses that military families endure, and one that is overlooked many times is the stress of changing schools and the effect it has on the children. After changing schools three times in two calendar years, my son was showing the apparent effects, he was behind the current curriculum in reading and writing.

After discussing with his school and the best way to approach the matter we decided to enrol him into the Sylvan program. The staff at Sylvan have been nothing but incredible, they have been supremely supportive to his needs and ours. They had insight to benefits for military members that they pointed out to us. Under the “Dependants Education Program” we were able to ensure that our son would receive the assistance that he needed to be brought up to his current education level.

Even while still attending Sylvan, we strongly recommend to anyone with a child who needs assistance to consider what they have to offer. It takes the stress and frustration off you as parents of trying to fight through homework, and the staff makes homework for the child fun. Our son looks forward to going each night he has lessons, and not once has he said he doesn’t want to go. In the short time that he has been attending Sylvan we have already seen a dramatic improvement in his reading capability and confidence. He is picking up books to read to his younger sister, reading billboards as we are driving around town, and is currently reading a complex book “Chronicles of Narnia” (all seven in the series) on his own.
