NOW HE ENJOYS READING...

"I just want to express my appreciation to you and your staff for helping Kristian. He is a different kid now when it comes to reading. In the last two days he has read a whole book. He picked up the book and began reading all on his own, before it was a struggle to get him to read his directions for his homework. Now he enjoys reading and is asking for more books to read. Again thank you I am forever grateful!"

We Love Sylvan!

"My 7th grader has always struggled with Math for as long as I can remember. For some reason, it just did not click for her. We tried tutoring and late nights trying to explain things to her. Her self esteem was suffering and her grades were dropping. After receiving an F on her report card, we decided we had to do something. Sylvan promised results and boy did they deliver. Within a few weeks, we already saw a difference in her. Sylvan worked with her teachers at her school to help identify other weak areas. Her math teacher is so pleased with the progress that Sylvan has helped her make. She not only improved her grades to a solid B but her self esteem has increased as well. We love Sylvan's philosophy, the staff, and the improvements we've seen in our daughter. If your child is struggling, make the step to call Sylvan. We no longer have late nights up doing homework. That helps us all sleep easier!"

Sylvan Helped My Daguther

"My daughter is a smart girl but was having trouble with her school performance. Her work was very inconsistent. On some tests she would get a perfect score, then a short time later, on another test she would come home with a score of 67%. Some lessons she would get and others she just couldn't grasp. At Sylvan, they tested her and discovered that she had missed certain concepts. These concepts were basic building blocks that were critical for more advanced learning. Sylvan taught her the skills she had missed and enabled her to understand her current school curriculum. Her confidence grew. She no longer had the defeatist attitude that had plagued her for years. She knows now that if she works at something she can actually improve her grade. I would recommend anyone give Sylvan a try if there child is struggling in school."

Spring SUCCESS-AY winner

"When she said the words, "Mom, I want to read you a story," my heart swelled.

Five months ago she wouldn't touch her reading book with a ten-foot pole. She'd rather complain for an hour about reading instead of just doing the assignment. Her idea of a "good book" was one that was so chuck-full of stickers, activities and pictures that it ws impossible to locate any actual words.

But since she's started at Sylvan, she wants to read! She flies through the antics of Junie B. Jones so fast that I can't keep up. She reads signs and instructions. She'll do homework without rolling around and crying on the floor first. She's confident and amazing.

But don't let me fool you. It's not all about her. I think we all know that it's also about the parents. Sylvan has changed my life dramatically. I have four "free hours" each week to go grocery shopping or to just relax. I have fewer gray hairs. I don't sit at work dreading the impending "homework fight" that, before Sylvan, was destined to show its ugly face. I don't worry about her grades (as much). We now have family time after homework, bringing us closer together.

I'm so proud of what she's accomplished this year, and Sylvan has helped to make it happen. But the greates testimony to Sylvan's success? When I heard the words, "Mom, I'd like to start the math program at Sylvan!""

Thanks you!

"I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know how well TJ has been doing in his Algebra II class at school. I knew something good was up when he started bringing home his math quizzes and tests to show me the As and Bs on them. When his quarter grades came home and I opened the envelope, I at first thought there must have been some mistake -- MY son doesn't bring home grades like these! But is was true, he had a 3.2 average for the quarter, which indluded a B+ in Algebra! Shocked, yes, but so very happy and proud for TJ.

I want to thank you and your staff for helping TJ gain not only Math skills, but just as important, the confidence I believe he was lacking in order to do well. I am so glad I decided to check Sylvan out and give it a try. I am also so proud of TJ for making the decision to "stick it out." Please let the tutors that instruct TJ know that I send them many, many thanks!"

Janelle's first day...

"I just wanted you all to know how extremely pleased we are with Janelle's first day at Sylvan. As Janelle and I left the center last night, before I could even ask her how it went, she exclaimed, "I like it!" Without having to prompt her, Janelle relayed with excitement and enthusiasm in her voice example after example of specific help received during her Study Skills session. She was so excited that she couldn't wait to get home to finish her homework based on the guidance and strategies she had received. And, when she told me that the time went by too fast; that she wanted to stay to do more MATH because it was FUN, I almost fell out of my chair!

Last night we saw a glimpse of the return of the Janelle we know, a bright kid, excited about learning. Please express our deepest gratitude and appreciation to her tutors and other adults she may have interacted with last night because, based on Janelle's descriptions, they displayed very positive and caring attitudes towards her to give her the encouragement she craves in order to excel. We know that as a team you are all working to make a difference at a very important time in my niece's life and trust that, as a result, improved grades at school are clearly on the horizon for her now."

- Margot, Janelle's aunt

We are eternally grateful!

"Connor has had a GREAT year! Solid A in math for sure, and, when I last checked his gradebook on line, he had 4 As and 2Bs in his other classes. We are SO pleased. The interesting thing about the time he spent with you all last summer was, in addition to him finally "getting" math, his overall attitude about school and study habits also changed in a way that has positively impracted ALL of his areas of study. We are eternally grateful!"

We will miss you Sylvan!

"Dear Sylvan Staff,
It's hard to believe that Bredan's program has come to an end. It was a difficult decision bringing him here because it meant admitting there was a problem. The decision was the right one. I'm so proud of him being another Sylvan Success Story! This could not have happened without the love and support of everyone, but especially the Sylvan teachers. What a dedicated group of people with a passion for their job. Saying goodbye is never easy, but saying thank you is. You have given him a great gift. I know he will continue to do well. We will miss all of you very much!"

- Love, Brenden and his grateful family!

Thank You Sylvan!

"We just wanted to say thank you for the help that Sylvan has provided our son. When Nate was in first grade and struggling with reading, we thought about sending him to Sylvan, but decided to wait. Again in the third grade when he was struggling we considered it, but yet again took a different option. Finally, when he reached the fifth grade and nothing had seemes to make a difference, we contacted Sylvan.

Nate has made great progress and appears to be more confident. Getting him to do hid homework is not the big batle that is used to be. We believe the student-teacher ratio, the teaching techniques, the lesson plan designed specifically for each child, and the friendly environment are all part of why Nate is now doing so much better. And, of course, wea re now kicking ourselves for not sending him to Sylvan when we first noticed him struggling.

We are sincerely grateful and would recommend Sylvan to anyone!

Thank you!"

Sylvan helped!

"We had a child who struggled in school due to poor reading comprehension. Internet research and and experience another family member had at Sylvan steered us to them.

The assessment showed us what we already knew, that Sean had poor skills, but it also showed us where he excelled.

All Sylvan staff members were upbeat and focused on one thing - The student's success!

Since Sean's experience at Sylvan, we have seen him learn to understand the importance of reading the right way as well as being more organized and methodical about things.

Thanks Sylvan!"

- Mrs. Jackson

Dramatic changes!

"Because of Sylvan, Charles changed dramatically from being bored and uncooperative during homework to doing it eagerly as soon as he gets home from school. I have seen postitive changes in his attitude and achievement in school. Sylvan is well worth it!"

- Charles's grandma

Well worth it!

"I feel that the money we spent at Sylvan was the BEST investment in my daughter's future that we could possibly have made. I would recommend Sylvan to anyone whose child is having trouble with schoolwork. We are very pleased with the whole program!"

- Sara's dad

Best report card ever!

"I would like to thank everyone at Sylvan! Katie just got her first quarter report card and it is the best report card we have ever seen! It is such a good feeling to see these kinds of grades, but most importantly I love seeing how happy Katie is to show us these grades and the pride she feels for her own accomplishments!"

- Katie and her mom

Expectations Surpassed!

"I'm ever grateful to you all for showing my son that reading is important and that it can be fun to learn. As some of you know, 13 months ago I was really depending on Sylvan to do what you said could be done, and you all have surpassed my expectations. Thanks so much for being patient and teaching my son to read!"

- Mom of Curt

His grades in all subjects are improving...

"My 7th grade son was having problems with almost every subject. His self-esteem was suffering and his interest in school was compromised. The Sylvan Skills Assessment identified specific gaps in his understanding so the program could target the critial needs. It saved us time and money, yet the program has benefitted us fully. Every time we drive home from Sylvan, my son opens up to me with excitement about his life. That mood has not come at any other time. He is happy and confident. his grades in all subjects are improving as well as his attention to work."
