Brenda graduated from the Univ. of Minnesota with a B.S. in Elementary Education and a minor in Sociology. She taught for 2 years in Minneapolis, then moved to Seattle where she attended UW while teaching in the area. After five years, she became a stay-at-home mom while working as a school volunteer. In 1992 she received the Golden Acorn award from Somerset Elementary PTA for her service to children. Brenda currently presides as Executive Director of the Bellevue, Renton and Sammamish Sylvans.
A native of Renton, Crystal graduated from Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and middle-school endorsements in math, science and language arts. Crystal always knew she wanted to be a teacher. She worked with students at both elementary and middle schools while attending college. She enjoys working closely with students and helping to make learning fun. In her free time she enjoys hiking, reading, swimming, camping, arts and crafts, and brushing up on her French.
Jasmin earned a BA in Physics from the University of Puget Sound in and a BS in Aerospace Engineering (Astronautics) from USC; she earned her teaching credentials from CSU Sacramento. She then worked as a math teacher in California, Bellevue, and Renton. When she moved to the Portland, Oregon area, she worked at the Tualatin Sylvan. While in Oregon, Jasmin also attended the Western Culinary Institute for Patisserie and Baking. She later returned to the Puget Sound area and joined the Renton Sylvan. When not at Sylvan, Jasmin enjoys baking, watching movies, reading and visiting her family in California.
A native of Pennsylvania, Anna earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Special Elementary Education from Gwynedd-Mercy College in Pennsylvania. She spent one semester at Umbria University in Italy. Anna has always been drawn to teaching as she loves sharing and gaining knowledge. Before moving to the Seattle area, she taught in Grand Forks, North Dakota, where she was nominated for a Teacher of the Year award; she also taught at the Grand Forks Sylvan Learning Center. In her free time, Anna enjoys exploring the area with her husband, painting ceramics, reading, cooking, and watching her beloved Phillies play baseball.
Nate earned his degree in History Education from Central Washington University. He substitute-taught in the Yakima School District before moving to the Puget Sound area, and is currently pursuing his Masters of Education with the University of Phoenix. Nate is excited to help Sylvan students succeed at learning. He enjoys reading, a good game of chess, and spending time at Mt. Rainier.
A native of California, Amanda graduated from WSU with degrees in English/Secondary Education and a minor in Spanish. Amanda completed her student teaching on a military base in Germany. After moving to the Seattle area, she joined Sylvan. Amanda was influenced to become a teacher by one of her high school English teachers. Her favorite subjects to teach are reading and writing. In her free time Amanda enjoys reading, traveling, sports, dancing, and spending time with family and friends.
A native of Seattle, Janet earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Development with a minor in Fine Arts and a certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care. She then earned her Master of Arts degree in Teaching with an Elementary Education endorsement. When she is not teaching, Janet enjoys hiking, running, boating and camping.
A native of Renton, Jeffrey earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics teaching from Central Washington University. While at college, he was named to the Delta Kappa Pi Education Honor Society. Although he originally studied computer science, Jeffrey decided to become a teacher after he took an education class which allowed him to observe and assist in a high school classroom. He enjoyed the experience of helping students become better students. Jeffrey likes teaching math at all levels, geometry and algebra in particular. In his free time, Jeffrey enjoys reading, spending time with friends and family and watching football, baseball or soccer.
