Meet the Tutors
The tutors of the Sugar Land Sylvan Learning Center are all Sylvan trained and certified so that they can best address your child’s academic needs. Our tutors are dedicated to working closely with you and your child in order to help your child reach his or her goals. We start by pinpointing your child’s strengths and areas for improvement through the Sylvan Skills Assessment®. From there, our Sugar Land Center staff develops a personalized learning plan for your child and offers unique insights about what methods will work best with your child. Ultimately, our tutors will build a relationship with your child and provide a fun, engaging, and rewarding learning environment. The Sugar Land Sylvan Learning Center staff consists of highly experienced and established educational professionals who take great pride in their work with students who want to catch up, keep up, or get ahead.

I wasn't born here but am a Houston native. I have been with Sylvan since 1991. I began working as a part-time teacher's assistant while attending University of Houston. I have been in many different roles within Sylvan such as: Instructor, Teaching Assistant, Director of Education, Regional Trainer, and Center Director. I have devoted my career to our students because it brings me a great sense of accomplishment to see how Sylvan changes the lives of families. Sylvan is one of the only places where you can see the difference you are making in a student's life on a daily basis.

I am originally from Houston and have been with Sylvan since 2008. I have a Bachelors degree in Psychology and am currently pursuing a Masters in Psychology. As part of the Sylvan program every enrolled family will meet with me on a monthly basis to review your student's progress. I really enjoy interacting with the students and getting to know them.

I grew up in Sugar Land, and am currently attending University of Houston, and have been declared an Accounting Major. Go Cougars!!!. I have been enjoying Sylvan of Sugar Land since April 2010. I am from Iowa and move to Texas as soon as I could in 1995, I can not imagine why it took me so long. I am a former Spanish teacher, and have taught Spanish for 12 years. I am a currently an Instructional Technology Specialist. I have worked for Sylvan for 8 years and have been instructing at the Sugar Land Sylvan since October 2008. I believe Sylvan's educational program is outmatched by none in the industry and is a great benefit to students and their parents. I enjoy working with the students and seeing them grow.

I am a Language Arts and Math teacher. I am at Sylvan because I love working with kids. I like that at Sylvan you can cover a lot of material within a session. Sylvan is fast passed and the students are continually learning new concepts.
I really enjoy working with a few students at a time as opposed to an entire classroom of students. This environment really helps the students learn. It is great to see a student who is unsure about school and over time, at Sylvan their confidence improves and they improve in school.

I am a certified High School teacher in Math and the Sciences, as well being certified as a Middle School teacher. I am currently teaching in Alief ISD: Algebra I and Math. I hold a doctoral degree in Chemistry and have worked as a research scientist for major companies. I hold several patents and have written numerous scientific publications.
I enjoy teaching and mentoring my students to do their best, following well-established success principles in Math and Science, the subjects many students find difficult and complex. I like to help students achieve a better understanding and improve their grades. My unique industry experience allows me to create stronger connections between the classroom and the workplace. I embody the philosophy that “Education is the key to lifelong success.” and I implore my students to do so.

I am a New Orleans, Louisiana native and Louisiana State University alumna. I hold a BA in English and am employed by Houston ISD as a math instructor. Having a background in English and experience teaching mathematics affords me the opportunity to both share my love of literature while emphasizing the importance of mathematics and how it is integrated in everyday life.
