Our Sylvan trained and certified tutors are dedicated to your child’s success. Working together with you, we will:

Dawn

Center Director

Dawn has been employed with Sylvan for eleven years. She began as a teacher at the Niles location, and was quickly promoted to Progress Manager. After a year of conferencing with parents and managing student programs, Dawn accepted a promotion to Center Director at the Mentor location. She has her B.S. in education from Ashland University. In her spare time, she enjoys bowling, golfing, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Maria

Progess Manager

Maria began her career at Sylvan twenty years ago. She has worked in a variety of positions, including Director of Education, Progress Manager, and teacher. Maria currently serves in the role of Progress Manager, which includes managing student programs, communicating with teachers, conferencing with parents, and tracking academic growth of students. She has her B.S. in education from Cleveland State University. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, and exploring her Greek heritage.

Lorie

Progress Manager

Lorie has been employed with Sylvan for thirteen years. She has served as Progress Manager and teacher. She currently manages student programs, communicates with teachers, and conferences with parents. Lorie has her B.S. in eduation from Kent State University. She enjoys the flexibility that working at Sylvan gives her. This allows her to spend more time with her family and attend all of her daughter’s school functions and sporting events. In her spare time, she enjoys bowling, boating, and reading.

Shannon

Teacher

Shannon has been with Sylvan for six years and is one of our veteran teachers. She has her B.A. in Middle School Education with a concentration in Language Arts and Social Studies from Lake Erie College. Shannon is familiar with and teaches all of our Sylvan programs, but she does truly enjoy working with our Study Skills students. Shannon grew up in Mentor, Ohio and enjoys playing with her children, reading, and going for walks. She is also looking forward to substitute teaching in the school system once her children are older.

Meghan

Teacher

Meghan works with many of our students at Sylvan. She works with our Beginning Reading, Academic Reading, Academic Writing, Math Essentials, and Study Skills Students. She has her B.S. in Education from the University of Akron, with her license in Early Childhood Education. She is currently a substitute teacher in the local school districts. Meghan has lived in Eastlake, Ohio her whole life and enjoys watching movies, scrapbooking, painting, and cooking. She has a large family and enjoys camping and playing board games with them. In the next five years, Meghan hopes to “have a full time teaching position, get married, and complete my masters in literacy."

Mallory

Teacher

Mallory is one of our upper level math teachers that works with our Sylvan Advanced Math students as well as our Math Essentials and ACT/SAT Prep students. She has her B.S. from Bowling Green University and hopes to finish her masters degree in the coming years. She is certified to teach 7th to 12th grade Integrated Math, and is currently working as a substitute teacher within the Mentor School District. Mallory grew up in Mentor, Ohio and enjoys spending time with her family and friends, as well as playing and watching sports.

Heather

Teacher

Heather has her B.A. from Ursuline College with her certification in Middle School Language Arts and Social Studies. She also has her K through 12 Reading Endorsement. Heather enjoys working with our Academic Reading and Academic Writing students, as well as our Study Skills and ACT/SAT students. Heather grew up in Mentor, Ohio and teaches at her home Parish. Heather enjoys collecting Scooby Doo and John Deere memorabilia. She is also very involved in her church and sits on her college alumnae board. In the next five years Heather “hopes to be having my second child and still doing what I love best…teaching!"
