Paula Richards graduated in Business Administration from Aconcagua University in Argentina. As a commercial representative, Paula spent 12 years traveling extensively around the world. Such experience allowed her to learn, understand and communicate easily with individuals of different races, backgrounds and cultures. Furthermore, Paula has been involved in education, both as an instructor and in administrative positions for over 5 years. Paula is excited to be part of the Sylvan family where she can put her experience to work while witnessing the success of children and youth.
Dr. Lewis has been an educator for over 30 years in urban districts in New York and Ohio. She is a former Deputy Superintendent in New York City and a Chief Academic Officer in Cleveland, Ohio. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Biology from New York University, NY and a Doctorate in Special Education from Columbia University, N.Y. She also has wide experience in the areas of Reading and Learning Disabilities.
Deanna graduated from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education/Early Childhood. She taught for 2 years in Pennsylvania and she is going into her second year as a Kindergarten Teacher in Broward County. She is excited to be a part of the Sylvan family and contributing toward each child's future success. Deanna has been working for Sylvan Weston since June 2009.
Alpha graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology and a minor in biology and chemistry. Throughout his undergraduate career he served as a teacher to many migrant workers, teaching them English, and as a tutor to high school students in the sciences. The qualities that he has acquired from these teaching experiences have motivated him to continue to serve as an educator. He is happy part of the Sylvan Weston family since July 2009.
Valery has been a teacher for almost twenty seven years. She says that teaching has been one of the most gratifying and rewarding experience of her life. She enjoys working with children and young adults. To see a student pass a test, or learn a new skill is extremely satisfying and rewarding for her. She finds Sylvan to be a welcoming environment where her qualities as a teacher blend in nicely with the people with whom she interacts. Valery joined Sylvan Weston in July 2009.
Alice feels that being a part of Sylvan, is an essential part of her professional endeavors as an educator. She joined Sylvan Weston in May 2009. This experience has improved her professional growth and has helped her to expand her techniques for motivating and encouraging children and students in the learning process. Alice has a Bachelor's degree in Arts and Sciences with a concentration in biology and chemistry from Howard University. She currently teaches 8th grade science. She is finishing her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction at Nova Southeastern University. Alice is certified in the state of Florida to teach Chemistry and General Sciences. This year, she was voted the team leader among a group of math, science, reading, language arts, and history teachers in her school and will begin taking on leadership roles in the future.
Sheryl has been working at Sylvan Weston since April 2009. She worked for Sylvan Learning Center in Davie for 5 years from 1995 to 2000. At the present time she is a full-time math teacher and has worked in the Broward County Schools for 15 years.
Sheryl tells us she has had some of the best teaching experiences at Sylvan. She has seen how Sylvan evaluates students and customizes their programs to meet their needs. She has seen students thrive at Sylvan and become more well-rounded students. At Sylvan Weston, Sheryl tutors students in various tests such as the SAT. She also instructs Math Essentials, Advanced and High School Math.
