"I entered the education franchise business just over a year ago after recognizing the enormous growth potential in education franchising," said Michael Stankiewicz. "Sylvan was a natural choice as a leading franchisor in this space."
The re-franchise of the Acton center, located at 179 Great Road, Suite 104, represents a move by Sylvan Learning to focus on franchising to local entrepreneurs and business operators.
Sylvan is currently redistricting a group of territories to address changes in consumer population and density that have occurred since the company’s territories originally were drawn. As a result of this re-franchising strategy, Sylvan is making new territories and centers available across the country, with approximately 10 new territories and 11 centers available for re-franchising in the Boston metropolitan area.
"With the continuing changes in the supplemental education marketplace, we’ve found that local center ownership, local community involvement and partnerships with local school systems are a key component of each Sylvan Learning center’s success," said Peter Cohen, president and CEO of Sylvan Learning, Inc. "Sylvan’s new focus on local franchising represents an opportunity for savvy local entrepreneurs to tap into the rapid growth of supplemental education services."
The business opportunity for skilled small business operators is supported by the growth of consumer spending on tutoring: annual increases of 7 to 10 percent over the past three years, with projected annual increases of 12 to 15 percent, according to Eduventures, Inc.
Entrepreneurs interested in exploring opportunities in supplemental education franchising may contact Greg Helwig, Sylvan Learning’s vice president for franchise development at (410) 843-8729.
