Why did you first decide to become a Teacher?



At Sylvan, we remember why. As an Instructor at Sylvan, your primary responsibility is teaching. Lesson planning and preparation are done for you. As a part-time Sylvan Mathematics Instructor, you will be trained to use the Sylvan curriculum and be given the tools to teach in a small group, 3:1 setting and to assist student with mathematics homework. You will provide personalized mathematics instruction including pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, algebra II, and SAT/ACT prep to middle school and high school students. As a successful Instructor, you will:



Deliver Quality Mathematics Education:

* Teach using Sylvan based programs

* Provide individualized instruction to help students complete school assignments.

* Use manipulatives and technology to teach and reinforce concepts

* Supervise, interact with and motivate students during instruction hour

* Reward students for completed assignments

* Evaluate and document student progress

* Communicate student needs to the center manager



Inspire Students:

* Develop rapport with students

* Establishes a fun learning environment

* Inspire students to work toward mathematical understanding

* Encourage a positive attitude toward mathematics

* Demonstrate enthusiasm for mathematics and Sylvan



We require:

* Bachelor's degree

* Minimum 1 year of teaching or tutoring experience

* Confidence in your own mathematical ability
