Meet the Tutors
Our Sylvan trained and certified tutors are dedicated to your child’s success. Working together with you, we will:
- Pinpoint your child’s learning needs using the Sylvan Skills Assessment®
- Develop a personalized learning plan based on your child’s goals
- Offer unique insights about what will work for your child
- Teach each lesson the way your child learns best
- Build a relationship with your child to provide learning that’s fun, engaging and rewarding
Sandy Lynch
Center Director
Sandy is responsible for the general management and efficient operation of our center. Sandy is a certified teacher with a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Michigan University. Sandy has attended extensive training through Sylvan Learning Corporation. She will conduct initial test result conferences and on-going conferences in any subject. Sandy also coordinates our SAT prep classes.
Amy Bolton
Director of Education
Amy is responsible for overseeing educational programs and the on-going training and development of our teachers. She will support our teaching staff in any way that offers your child the highest quality education experience possible. Amy also conferences with parents Monday through Friday. Amy has a B.S. in Education from Augusta State University.
Susan Melchior
Director of Reading
Susan has 7 yrs. of teaching experience with Columbia County School System. She has a B.S. degree from Columbia International University. She is a certified teacher who is responsible for the management of all the beginning reading, elementary, and middle school reading lesson plans and conferences.
Wendy Hendry
Director of Education
Wendy is an experienced, certified teacher who is responsible for the management of instruction. She holds a B.S. degree in Education from Universisty of Vermont. She comes to us with 19 years of experience as a gifted and talented teacher with Aiken County School System. Wendy monitors the quality of instruction throughout the center and meets with parents to share our student's progress.
Misty Gleason
Executive Director/Owner
As Executive Director and Owner, Misty oversees all facets of the center's operation, especially concerning the delivery of the highest quality educational programs and assurance of customer satisfaction. She and her husband, Dan, have owned the Augusta Center since 1987 and have earned excellence awards every year of operation.
