Military Resource: Kids' Turn

Kids’ Turn is the only program in San Diego County working with the whole family to achieve a child-centered and healthy divorce. Their programs are known throughout the United States and have been in San Diego since 1996. Kids’ Turn is a low cost solution for families experiencing the pain of divorce or separation, no matter how great the conflict. While many families are court ordered, a growing number of families are taking the Kids’ Turn workshops because of the recommendation of an attorney, teacher, and counselor or because of their own desire to make this traumatic life change as healthy for their family as possible.

Military Resource: Free Parenting Workshops

The Positive Parenting Program provides free parenting workshops throughout San Diego County in Head Start preschools, elementary schools, and other community sites. Workshops are designed to help parents and professionals learn how to use simple, practical, and powerful strategies to strengthen families. Workshops consist of three 90-minute seminars and include topics such as resiliency, independence, respect and cooperation in children. The curriculum is based on Triple P America, a research-based program that has been shown to promote family harmony, reduce parent-child conflict, foster successful peer relationships, and prepare children for successful experiences at school. The Positive Parenting Program is non-denominational.

At Sylvan, our math experts will develop an individualized plan to meet the exact learning needs of your teenager. Whether it's extra help with algebra or additional coursework to strengthen college applications, we'll develop the skills, habits and attitudes your child needs for success in high school and beyond. All of our higher math instructors and Directors of Education are required to complete our Math Proficiency Certification to insure that your child received the best possible teacher in their math subject.

Sylvan Learning of Bonita offers SES Services!!

In order for your child to be eligible for free tutoring, your child must attend a Title I school that is identified as a school in need of improvement, corrective action or restructuring AND be eligible for Free or Reduced Price Lunch.  Please check with your student's school and/or school district to see if your family qualifies for the SES program.  Program requirements may vary from district to district.

Read Ahead: Early Reading Fun

Students will practice recognizing and writing their capital and lowercase letters, build listening comprehension strategies, and increase their book awareness while learning to love reading.

Camp Sum Fun-Addition and Subtraction
(Grades 1st-3rd) Cost: 10 hrs $199.00
Improve understanding of basic addition and subtraction skills, while increasing speed and accuracy. Learn strategies. Understand the concept that addition and subtraction are related. Solve simple addition and subtraction word problems.

Multiply & Divide

Jan 09- Sylvan Bonita becomes a member of the Bonita Business Professional Association

Sylvan Learning Center, Bonita became a member of the Bonita Business Professional Association in 2009. LaDreda Lewis, the Executive Director, Elizabeth Hayes, the former Center Director, and Anna Parker, the Director of Education were all present to receive the plaque.

The Bonita Business & Professional Association actively supports our community and local businesses. The BBPA is proud to host a number of exciting community-building events, including the Rootin' Tootin' Chili Cook-off, "Wild West" Bonitafest, and Holiday Tree Lighting.

Book Adventure

Book Adventure is a FREE reading motivation program for children in grades K-8. Children create their own book lists from over 7,000 recommended titles, take multiple choice quizzes on the books they've read, and earn points and prizes for their literary successes. Book Adventure was created by and is maintained by Sylvan Learning Center.

PARTNERSHIP WITH NAVY FLEET AND FAMILY SUPPORT

In an effort to serve those who serve our country, we are now partnering with the Navy Fleet and Family Support to promote our 20% auto-pay and 28% pre-pay active and retired military discount.

They will also advertise to military spouses that we hire credentialed teachers with a bachelor's degree. Since we have over 1100 Sylvan Learning Centers nation wide, it is a fulfilling and highly portable career.
