The Sylvan Learning Center of Brownsville helps students learn how to become self-motivated, independent, and most importantly approach school, as well as life, with confidence. Our tutoring programs are available both when school is in session, as well as during the summer. PRACTICE ACT/SAT TESTS AT YOUR SCHOOL
We're having “Diag Days” all over the Rio Grande Valley! Our McAllen and Brownsville teams have been hard at work administering practice SAT and ACT to thousands of RGV students. Several of our local districts have decided to take advantage of Sylvan’s FREE diagnostic test and have scheduled their SAT and ACT practice tests ON CAMPUS. If you’re interested in scheduling a test or want us to come to your school, simply call our centers. Sylvan can help you on the path from COLLEGE PREP to COLLEGE SUCCESS!!

Did you know Sylvan provides FREE tutoring for eligible students in SIX Valley school districts? As an approved SES provider, we have programs with Brownsville ISD, Rio Hondo ISD, Edcouch Elsa CISD, Mission CISD and La Joya ISD. Certain schools in these districts have been approved to provide quality tutoring for eligible students. Sylvan’s quality programs yield REAL RESULTS – so be sure to contact your schools and tell them YOU CHOOSE SYLVAN!!
In the Sylvan Spotlight: MONICA TELESE
Congratulations to MONICA TELESE. She is IN THE SYLVAN SPOTLIGHT!
Monica earned her bachelor's degree in political science from Texas State University and her master's degree in history from UTPA. She is a certified teacher and has a bilingual/ESL endorsement.
Monica has been sharing her talents with Sylvan students for three years. Her favorite class to teach at Sylvan is Reading College Prep.
"I really love helping students reach their full potential," Monica said.
During the school day, Monica subs in Los Fresnos ISD.
Her hobbies are reading and writing, and her favorite author is F. Scott Fitzgerald. When it comes to food, Monica can't resist caldo de res.
If Monica could meet anyone, she'd choose Jennifer Lopez "because she's independent and beautiful, too."
Monica's favorite holiday is Christmas "because it's all about family."

MCALLEN DAY at the State Capitol
Sylvan Learning Rio Grande Valley was at the capitol in Austin for McAllen Day February 1, 2011. We spoke to legislators and will continue to be involved throughout this legislative session to fight for education for children in the Rio Grande Valley.
