Sylvan programs begin with a detailed profile of your child’s academic strengths and needs based on the results of the Sylvan Skills Assessment. This comprehensive evaluation includes a unique combination of standardized tests, diagnostic tools and personal interviews to help our Directors accurately determine specific ‘skill gaps’ and the most effective way to boost or bolster learning deficits.
Whether your goal is to ‘catch up’, ‘keep up’ or ‘get ahead’, we are able to develop a customized program that is the most effective plan for your child.
PERSONALIZED TUTORING PLAN:
Sylvan understands that each child has a unique learning style. We will develop a personalized program based on goals and assessments that incorporates the specific content your child will need to strengthen skills, build confidence and competence, and develop a foundation for continued learning that will last a lifetime.
INDIVIDUAL ATTENTION:
Regardless of grade or skill level, your child will receive the individual attention he or she needs to improve classroom performance. Our teachers work individually with your child in a small group setting to ensure successful skill development. This personal interaction facilitates rapid recovery of weaker skills that translates into academic success.
STATE-CERTIFIED TEACHERS:
All Sylvan teachers are state-certified and endorsed as well as being trained in our Sylvan programs. They utilize proven learning techniques to enhance and ensure long-term retention of skills and concepts. New skills are not introduced until earlier skills have been mastered by your child.
MOTIVATIONAL PROGRAMS:
Our students remain engaged and eager learners through reinforced success and recognition of effort. PROGRESS REPORTS:
At Sylvan, we’re committed to keeping you up-to-date on your child’s progress and concerns. We schedule frequent conferences with you to evaluate your child’s unique program and attainment of specific academic goals and expectations.
FLEXIBLE PROGRAMS AND SCHEDULES:
Because our students’ needs are constantly changing, we become a ‘learning partner’ to our families throughout the years. Programs include: Beginning Reading, Academic Reading, Math Essentials, Advanced Math, Early and Academic Writing, ACT and College Prep and Homework Support for all grade levels. We can accommodate schedule changes on short notice or create long-term permanent instruction schedules.
SCHOOL COMMUNICATION:
With your permission, Sylvan will become a partner with your child’s classroom teacher to make sure that progress at Sylvan translates into school success. Your student’s academic goals become a collaborative effort as we work with our families and schools to guarantee that learning goals are met.
'THE SYLVAN GUARANTEE'
After 36 hours of instruction in either Academic Reading or Math Essentials,we guarantee that your child will progress one full grade level in either Vocabulary or Comprehension (Reading): Computation or Concepts and Application (Math Essentials). If progress is not attained we will provide 12 additional hours of instruction at no charge!
TUITION OPTIONS:
We offer a competitive fee schedule as well as financially-friendly financing options to our families. There is no contract and discounts are available when program hours are purchased in advance. These hours may be applied to multiple programs or used for siblings. They do not expire!

We also provide HW support in early elementary math, Algebra, Geometry and ACT review. Our middle and high school students can also log on to SylvanMathPrep.com - a valuable online tutorial program that correlates to their own classroom textbook!
'SOS' . . . HOMEWORK HELP IS ON THE WAY!
Freaking out over tests and daily HW assignments?? Not a problem. We've got you covered! Our tutors are dedicated to your success and available after school and in the evenings. Sylvan Holiday Closings
Happy Holidays from all of us at the Sylvan Learning Center of Buffalo Grove! We hope everyone has a wonderful and safe holiday season! We will be closed on November 24th and 25th for Thanksgiving, December 24th and 25th for Christmas, and December 31st and January 1st for New Years. We will also close early on Tuesday, December 20th for the first night of Hanukkah.
