Meet the Tutors
Our Sylvan trained and certified tutors are dedicated to your child’s success. Working together with you, we will:
- Pinpoint your child’s learning needs using the Sylvan Skills Assessment®
- Develop a personalized learning plan based on your child’s goals
- Offer unique insights about what will work for your child
- Teach each lesson the way your child learns best
- Build a relationship with your child to provide learning that’s fun, engaging and rewarding
Christie Buehrle
Director
Christie has been with Sylvan for 10 years. She started at the Hadley center as a part time teacher before becoming the Director of Education and Director. In 1999, she became a District Manager for centers in MA, CT, NJ and NY before landing permanently in Hadley. When she is not in Hadley, focusing on educational excellence, you may find her at Home Depot purchasing supplies for the ongoing renovation of her 108 year old Victorian home in Holyoke.
Yanis
Instructor
Yanis has been an instructor at Sylvan since 1997. He is our "super math guy" with a Mathematics degree from Oberlin College. He teaches all upper level math courses here at Sylvan, including SAT Prep. His students say that he "just has a better way of explaining things".
Trish
Instructor/Updater
Trish has been employed at Sylvan since 2001. She teaches most programs, specializing in Advanced Reading, Beginning Reading and Study Skills. Trish also works at an elementary school in Amherst. She resides in Florence with her husband and sons.
Carolyn
Instructor
Carolyn came to the Hadley Sylvan Learning Center in September of 2006 from a Sylvan in Florida. She teaches all levels of Math and has a degree in Mathematics from Fitchburg State College.
Kristin T.
Instructor/Diagnostician
Kristin has recently returned to the center after a brief absence and we are glad to have her back. In addition to teaching nearly all the subjects we have at Sylvan, she also works as a test administrator on Saturdays. Welcome back, Kristin!
Melissa F.
Instructor
Melissa knows first hand how Sylvan can change a student's life! She started with Sylvan as a student in elementary school. When she was in high school, she became a teaching assistant. After graduating from college with her education degree, she returned to us as an instructor. We are lucky to have her back!
Kaitlyn
Instructor
Kaitlyn came highly recommended by one of our seasoned staff members, Trish. She is certified pre-k-8th grade and enjoys working with students of all ages.
