Success Stories

From a mom of a Study Skills student

""The first time I called Sylvan the Director asked me if Julie was at risk of failing any of her classes. The answer was, "Yes, all of them". She arranged for an assessment the following Saturday. It has been one year and Julie is doing fantastic. Her grades went from failing to A's and B's. Sylvan helped Julie gain confidence in herself in the classroom and I believe that this has helped my daughter in other areas of her life as well. Kudos to Sylvan.""

From a mom of a Beginning Reading student and a Study Skills student

""I am surprised by how much my kids like going to Sylvan and how much progress they have made. My son's reading has improved to the level that they have expected it would. My daughter wants to continue going for the Study Skills sessions. Definitely worth the cost. I am very pleased. I briefly considered using private tutors to continue with my son's reading development to save money, but I do not want to sacrifice the results that Sylvan has produced. It is well worth the investment so I will continue to use Sylvan.""

From a mom of a former reading, now math student

""When our son first started at Sylvan, he could not read and was in the third grade. By the end of his first year he was almost reading to grade level. Now he is working on math at Sylvan and it's all been very positive. Christie is a great person to deal with.""

email received from a mom of a high school student

"Hi Christie:

I just wanted to let you know how happy I am with Sylvan. Matthew is doing wonderful in math. As of right now, he has a B average in math. He just received his MCAS scores, and he scored "PROFICIENT" in English and "ADVANCED" in math!!! This is his first attempt at the MCAS, and he doesn't have to take it over. It's such great news. I am so proud of him. He only got a chance to tell one teacher at school the good news, and the other teachers were coming up to him and congratulating him. He attended Sylvan for a year, and he made such progress. When he started he was at a fourth grade math level, and look at him today! He's more confident in math and actually likes school now. He even has kids who made fun of him a year and a half ago, now coming up to him and asking him for help in math. He worked so hard to get where he is, and he actually enjoyed going to Syl van. As a matter of fact, he misses it and wants to go back for a maintenance program.

I am so pleased with Sylvan and the fact that it actually works that I've been telling people I know about the program, and that it actually is very worthwhile sending your child there. It really does work!

Thank you to everyone at Sylvan in Hadley for your hard work with my son. I am very grateful.

K. Morin"

Email from the parent of a former Geometry Student

"Hey Christie
Just thought you and Yanis might like to know that Alyssa is doing great in school.... she has made the honor roll both qtrs and is averaging a C in geometry and getting comments like "good work habits" and "a pleasure to have in class". I know that it is Alyssa doing the work but I think that she learned so much from you all at Sylvan....She is working really hard to bring her grade up to a B. I can not begin to tell you how grateful both Bruce and I are for all that you did for Alyssa not only with geometry but with her self confidence.....

Please pass this on to Yanis along with our thanks

Debbie"
