Meet the Tutors
Our Sylvan trained and certified tutors are dedicated to your child’s success. Working together with you, we will:
- Pinpoint your child’s learning needs using the Sylvan Skills Assessment®
- Develop a personalized learning plan based on your child’s goals
- Offer unique insights about what will work for your child
- Teach each lesson the way your child learns best
- Build a relationship with your child to provide learning that’s fun, engaging and rewarding
Meagan H.
Center Director
Meagan joined the Worcester center in November of 2006. She is a graduate of Fitchburg State University where she earned a B.S. in Elementary Education, and is currently pursuing her Masters degree in Moderate Disabilities. One of her favorite parts of working at Sylvan is seeing the students gain confidence in themselves and their abilities.
Meagan welcomed her first child in April, and when she is not at Sylvan enjoys the organized chaos that results from having an infant, 2 dogs, and a rabbit!
Margaret B.
Executive Director
Margaret has been our Executive Director since 2000. Margaret's first experience with Sylvan was over 20 years ago when her oldest child attended and successfully completed a Sylvan program! Margaret is a graduate of Niagara University and earned a M.S.degree from Boston College.She continues to provide the leadership that makes our business a success!
Steph D.
Associate Director
After a successful career in the computer industry, Steph pursued her dream of teaching. She taught in California before returning home, where her passion for education and business led her to Sylvan. As a lifelong learner, Steph earned her teaching credential at Cal, M.B.A. at the University of Phoenix in San Francisco, and B.S. at Penn State.
In her spare time, Steph enjoys spending time with her family, reading, golfing, gardening and playing with her pets, including her duck named Dotles!
Erin M.
Instructor/Test Administrator
Erin brings a high level of excitement, ingenuity, and devotion to our students. She thrives on seeing their confidence increase through our teaching. Erin recently became a first time mom this fall - congratulations, Erin!
Mary Ann H.
Associate Director
Mary Ann is the Worcester Center's resident expert on Beginning Reading. She holds a Master's degree from Lesley University in Elementary Education. Mary Ann currently splits her time at the center between teaching and administrative duties. She has been a member of our staff since 2005.
Julie C.
Associate Director
Julie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biology-Psychology from Tufts University and received her Master's of Education from Worcester State College. Julie currently splits her time here between teaching and administrative duties.
Jeff
Instructor
Jeff is our writing "guru". He teaches our writing, reading, study skills, and early math programs. He is also a great tutor in SAT Critical Reading or Writing prep.
Tara
Instructor/Test Administrator
Tara is here on weekends and is someone who may greet you for testing at our center! She also teaches our beginning reading, reading, math, writing, study skills, and Algebra programs. Tara recently became a first time mom - congratulations, Tara!
Geoff
Instructor
Geoff joined our staff in February as an instructor for students of all ages. He has been teaching for 15 years, and brings experience for all age levels and abilities. Welcome Geoff!
Kate S.
Teaching Assistant
Kate has been a teaching assistant at our center for over 5 years. She is often at the doors to greet the students for the first hour of instruction and to let the students know who they will be seated with for the instructional hour. Don't forget to say "hi" to Kate!
John D.
Instructor
John is a new member of our staff. He is a graduate of UMass with a degree in Financial Operations. He will be teaching our math and study skills programs. We are excited to have John join our Sylvan family!
