Sylvan Learning of Acton and your child's IEP/504 meeting...

Is your child's annual IEP or 504 review coming up soon? Or, has your son or daughter been recently recommended for an initial evaluation to determine his or her eligibility for special needs services. Yes, this can be a potentially stressful situation, but take a breath and know that we can help you through the process.

Sylvan Learning of Acton provides educational consultation services free of charge for the families of enrolled students. The Center Director has the knowledge and experience to help you understand your child's IEP by translating the often tricky educational jargon into words we can all understand, by helping you make changes to IEP drafts that will benefit your child before the document is signed and valid for entire calendar year, and even by attending your child's annual review meeting to sit by your side through the process.

The cost of educational advocacy can be so high that it effectively precludes it as a viable option. You can feel good about the fact that if your child is enrolled with us, you receive this invaluable service as part of your relationship with us at no extra cost.

What should parents expect from the Acton center?

We have found that in our community, which serves the towns of Acton, Boxborough, Concord, Carlisle, Lincoln, Sudbury, Maynard, Harvard, Stow, Bedford, Westford, Littleton, Tyngsboro, Chelmsford, Groton, Dunstable, and even as far west as Marlborough and Framingham, that many of our parents have the same sorts of qeustions and/or concerns as they pertain to the educational needs of their kid(s). The questions typically fall under a variety of categories:

*Preparing for college testing, including college entrance exams, SAT and ACT tests?
