Sylvan Math Essentials & Homework Support

Molly and Heather were brought into Sylvan February vacation week last year (falling in math and otherwise poor academic performance in other classes). Did three hours per day over February break and 6 hours a week on 3 separate days thereafter and results were “outstanding” in math and all other courses as well. We did a combination of math plus homework (which also taught some general study skills) each day and results were extraordinarily good.

The results were immediate in both my daughters’ cases and I couldn’t recommend the program any higher. They are like completely successful students and Liz and Jason were excellent throughout. They were flexible when necessary and very understanding and outstandingly observant of each student’s abilities and learning styles. We couldn’t say enough about the program and the outstanding staff. Highly recommend.

Molly and Heather received nearly all “A’s” on most assignments by schools end last year in math and all other subjects. Grades were excellent and they both received accolades at years end at their middle school. Both received “most improved” awards from their teachers. Teachers all said they were like completely new kids, new and improved.

Sylvan Academic Reading & Study Skills

Our daughter has shown significant growth in her skills so far this Summer at Sylvan in Peabody. She has gained confidence and has completed her Summer book project with ease! I am quite confident her 8th grade classes will be “attacked” with confidence, this providing a successful year.

The staff at Sylvan is very helpful and supportive. The best news is that Iggy looks forwards to going every time!"

Sylvan Academic Reading

Ashley had made remarkable progress in her vocabulary and reading. She enrolled with Sylvan and was a grade behind in reading, vocabulary, and comprehension. At the end of her program, she is now slightly above her grade level!
She starts the math program next and has been anticipating that all summer.
The staff here and directors are wonderful and caring people. I believe that have played a huge part in helping Ashley succeed."

Sylvan Advanced Reading & Sylvan Academic Writing

Kara came to the program needing to improve reading and writing skills. Since enrolling her reading level has increased as well as speed of reading and comprehension.
Kara has met all expectations with her writing. Her confidence as a writing has exceeded our expectations. She has been able to develop as a writer and express her thoughts and ideas in a clear and concise way.
It is our hope that these skills developed here at Sylvan will follow Kara through high school and college.

Improved SAT Scores: Grade 11

"Our daughter is a senior in high school. At the end of her junior year, she took the SATs for the first time. Her English scores were great but math came in at 480. She already knew what colleges she was interested in and the SAT range for applicants was 550 to 650. We discussed with her what kind of help she needed to bring the score up and she felt it wasn't so much a need to review math skills as a need to be helped in strategy and understanding what was being asked in the problems.

We went to Sylvan and explained what we thought she needed. They were receptive and we were able to tailor her needs with their tutoring availability. She received four hours of tutoring focusing on test taking strategy and problem solving skills. After just four hours, her score went from 480 to 540. We were very pleased!

They seemed to connect well. He said that they got off on a tangent talking about WW1 and he was amazed at how much he actually knew about the subject and remembered from last year.
