Scott has owned and operated the Sylvan Learning Center located in South Burlington, Vermont for 4 years. He has a Bachelor's Degree in Education and a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership. Scott has a passion for helping all students gain the tools necessary to reach their full potential in the classroom and beyond. The South Burlington center has helped hundreds of students over the past 4 years.
After graduating from Millersville University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Education (Social Studies), Leah continued her studies at the University of Vermont. While at UVM she earned a Master of Arts in History. She has worked as an instructor at Sylvan since 2007 and as Director of Education since 2011. Leah believes that learning should be fun and that every child should have the opportunity to learn in a way that suites them best.
Jaime earned a Bachelor’s degree in both Elementary Education and Sociology from Keene State College. Jaime is currently employed by the Northwestern Counseling and Support Services at the SOAR Learning Center as an Autism Interventionist.
Ashley is a graduate of Johnson State College and has worked as a para educator for the past 3 years. She has been working with children since she was a teenager and loves teaching math.
Jessica earned her B.A. in Early Childhood Education at the University of Vermont in 2010. Since then, she has worked as a para educator in a local elementary school. Jessica enjoys working with a diverse student body at Sylvan. She loves being able to witness their improvements in learning and their "a-ha!" moments.
Marcie has earned a B.A. in Sociology/History from Siena College in Loudeonville, New York and a M.A. in Teaching Elementary Education from Westminster College, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She has been a teacher in an elementary classroom and currently works as a para educator in a local school district. Marcie enjoys teaching at Sylvan and loves seeing her students finally understand a new concept that they have been struggling with.
As a former Sylvan student, Matt is very excited to be teaching on our team. He graduated from Champlain College with a degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. He has worked in schools with students from birth through seniors in High School. Currently, he works in the Special Education Department at a local High School. He has wanted to be a teacher for as long as he can remember and says it feels great to be able to be do what he loves. Matt says, of teaching, "I am truly living the dream!"
Alicia is originally from coastal Maine. She attended UVM and graduated in 2009 with a degree in History. She went to SUNY Potsdam for her M.S.T. in Social Studies Education and is certified to teach grades 7 - 12. Alicia looks forward to sharing her passion and experiences with future students. Her area of expertise is Global Studies, as she lived in France for a year abroad during undergraduate experience, and has traveled extensively. Her other interests include reading, running, and cooking.
David graduated from Saint Michael’s College with an Economics degree in 2002. Since graduating he has opened youth centers, worked as an AmeriCorps VISTA, and designed curriculum for a teen employment center. He loves interacting with youth and enjoys finding new ways to connect content to the real world.
