Meet the Tutors
Our Sylvan trained and certified tutors are dedicated to your child’s success. Working together with you, we will:
- Pinpoint your child’s learning needs using the Sylvan Skills Assessment®
- Develop a personalized learning plan based on your child’s goals
- Offer unique insights about what will work for your child
- Teach each lesson the way your child learns best
- Build a relationship with your child to provide learning that’s fun, engaging and rewarding
Linda Parrett Langan
Center Director
Linda holds a B.S. in Early Childhood Education and an M.S. in Elementary Education from Southern Connecticut State University. She is an education consultant and advocate, dedicating her career to assisting families in recognizing and solving children's specific educational needs. She has volunteered in her community as PTO president and was a member of the Wallingford Board of Education. Linda resides in Wallingford with her husband and two daughters.
Mathew Crowley
Head Teacher
Mat has a B.S. in English from Eastern Connecticut State University and an M.S. in Elementary Education from the University of New Haven. Mat is certified to teach grades K-6.
Andrea Meaney
Head Teacher
Andrea has a B.A. degree in Psychology and an M.A. degree in Education from Quinnipiac University. She is CT Certified in Elementary Education, K-6.
Renee Mooney
Head Teacher
Renee has a B.S. in Education and an M.S. in Special Education from Southern Connecticut State University. She is certified in the state of Connecticut in grades Pre-K through 12. Renee has been teaching for over 11 years.
Karen Stevens
Head Teacher
Karen has a B.A. in Special Education, B.S. in Elementary Education, M.S. in Special Education, and a 6th year in Autism from SCSU. She is CT Certified in Elementary Education, K-6 and Special Education, K-12. Karen has been teaching for 5 years.
Jeanne Artz
Instructor
Jeanne has a B.S. in Elementary Education and an M.S. in Art Education from Southern CT State University. She is CT certified in Elementary Education, grades Pre-K through 6; Art Education, grades Pre-K through 12. Jeanne has been teaching for 10 years.
Kristen Hopewood
Instructor
Kristen has a B.A. in History with a minor in Geography from UCONN. She is certified in History, grades 5-12.
Cathy Jackson
Instructor
CT Certification, Elementary Education,
K-8 and Special Education, K-12. Also holds a PhD in Special Education.
