Meet the Tutors
The tutors of Canandaigua Sylvan Learning Center are all Sylvan trained and certified so that they can best address your child’s academic needs. Our tutors are dedicated to working closely with you and your child in order to help your child reach his or her goals. We start by pinpointing your child’s strengths and areas for improvement through the Sylvan Skills Assessment®. From there, our Canandaigua Center staff develops a personalized learning plan for your child and offers unique insights about what methods will work best with your child. Ultimately, our tutors will build a relationship with your child and provide a fun, engaging, and rewarding learning environment. The Canandaigua Sylvan Learning Center staff consists of highly experienced and established educational professionals who take great pride in their work with students who want to catch up, keep up, or get ahead.

Kristie Hennessey, Ms.Ed
Director of Education
Kristie Hennessey is currently the Director of Education at the Sylvan Learning Center in Canandaigua, NY. Kristie received her Bachelor of Science degree at SUNY Cortland in Childhood Education (grades 1-6) and graduated in 2004. She also received her Master’s of Science degree at St. John Fisher College in Literacy Education and graduated in 2006. Kristie has worked for Sylvan since 2006. Prior to that, she held various positions within the public school system in New York. Kristie is in charge of evaluating students for program placement, program development for students in reading, math, study skills, writing, SAT prep, and homework support. She also regularly meets with parents to discuss their child’s progress at Sylvan and attends school visits. Kristie’s favorite thing about Sylvan is working with parents to help their child achieve academic success. She enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and friends and loves to workout and play golf in her free time.
Monica Kelley
Director of Education
Monica Kelley is currently the Director of Education at the Sylvan Learning Center in Canandaigua, NY. Monica received her Bachelor of Science degree at Lock Haven University in Cellular and Organismal Biology in 2004. She then received her Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education (Biology and General Science) in 2006. She is currently working on her Master’s of Science degree in Education through Edinboro University. Monica has worked for Sylvan since 2007 and prior to that held several positions within the public school system in Pennsylvania and NY. Monica is responsible for student program placement and communicating with parents and schools. Monica’s favorite thing about Sylvan is witnessing students increase their self-confidence and experience success. She enjoys spending time with her husband, two young children, family and friends.
