Sylvan's tutors teach skills that last a lifetime. We help students learn how to become self-motivated and achieve independence; above all else, we enable them to approach school — and life — with confidence.
We also maintain Sylvan tutoring special offers and seasonal promotions that make getting your child on the road to success easier.
SAT Prep Courses for 2011/2012
The SAT Prep Seminar is an 8 week course that involves a total of 30 hours.
·14 hours of math instruction
·16 hours of critical reading and writing
·12 hours of full-length practice tests
·Both the verbal section and math section have been modified to reflect the changes in the revised SAT, including the addition of higher-level mathematics.
·A new section, the writing module, has been added to the program and includes grammar and essay writing instruction.
To allow for individual attention, our class size is limited to a maximum of 8 students per seminar. The practice tests administered are actual, full-length tests that will be scored and will enable students to become more comfortable with the format of the test and give each student an opportunity to practice applying the test strategies learned during instruction. The writing section of the test will be scored and one of the reviews will include specific comments to help the students improved. Homework is assigned with each session. Individual courses are available at any time. A list of our 2011/2012 courses are below.
For the October 1, 2011 SAT:
Tuesday/Thursday, 5:15-7:15, August 2nd- September 29th
For the November 5th, 2011 SAT:
Saturdays, 9:00-1:00, August 27th - October 29th
For the December 3rd, 2011 SAT:
Monday/Wednesday, 5:15-7:15, October 4th - November 30th
For the January 28th, 2012 SAT:
Saturdays, 9:00-1:00, November 5th- January 21st.
For the March 10th, 2012 SAT:
Monday/Wednesday, 5:15-7:15, January 9th - March 7th
For the May 5th, 2012 SAT:
Saturdays, 9:00-1:00, February 11th-April 28th
For the June 2nd, 2012 SAT:
Monday/Wednesday, 5:15-7:15, March 26th-May 23rd

Sylvan 2011 Participation in Relay for Life a Success!
Thanks to everyone who has helped support our team in this year's Relay for Life! The Relay was held the weekend of June 10th and 11th, and Sylvan raised $1,245.20 for the American Cancer Society through our Relay for Life Team!
Many people supported us through fundraisers such as our Gardner's candy sale, Marianna's hoagie sale, and Lia Sophia Bingo. We also raffled an Italian gift basket and a Picnic Basket, donated by two of our teachers, Kristy Farabaugh and Elizabeth Bundy. Finally, we held a used successful used book sale at the Relay.
The theme of this year's Relay was "Novels and Books," and our team chose "cookbook" as our theme. In our group picture, you will see us all in chef hats and aprons!
