Sylvan Shows Integrity
"I contacted Sylvan because I wanted my daughter to work on her writing skills. Her grades in school were fine, but, as a writer myself, I saw some weaknesses in her writing abilities and I wanted them to be corrected prior to the SAT's. Sylvan assessed her, and instead of focusing on weaknesses to ensure that I would sign on to the program, the Director told me that she demonstrated proficiency with this particular test. Of course, this was only one writing sample, and the Director indicated as much, but I was so impressed with the integrity shown. Other tutoring services- I know from experience- simply want the business and will say what they need to say to get it (even if it means painting your child as possessing significant deficits-despite excellent PSSA scores and grades in a competitive high school). This Sylvan center didn't do that. My daughter has received tutoring, and it has improved her ability to express herself in writing, a critical skill for college and beyond. this isn't just my perception; my daughter also believes it has helped her."
