Amanda McNew

Center Director

Amanda has a B.S. in Elementary Education and a minor in psychology from Shippensburg University. She has worked with children of all age groups in a variety of tutoring settings. Amanda is very passionate about helping all children be successful and self-confident students.

JR Fanchalsky

Instructor

JR has a B.A. in English, M.A. in Political Science and a Certification in EFL/ESL. JR is retired from United States Air Force and the Department of Justice and Homeland Security as an immigration officer. He has previously taught alternative education in various locations. JR teaches to give students the basic skills and information they need to be responsible, successful individuals. He enjoys working at Sylvan because students get a second chance at understanding a concept on the spot and learning is not delayed.

Jenn Elliott

Instuctor

Jenn has a B.S. in Biology from Shippensburg University and is PA teacher certified. Jenn has worked as a middle school teacher at a local private academy. Since beginning to work at Sylvan in February 2010, she has served as an interim center director. Jenn has proved to be a valuable asset as a tutor to the center.

Liz Cleary

Instructor

Liz ia a graduate of Shippensburg University with a B.A. in Elementary Education and a minor in reading. Liz is also content knowledge certified in Social Studies. She is currently a middle school teacher at a local private academy. Liz has previously worked as a tutor for at-risk students at Scotland School for Veterans' Children. Liz enjoys working with students of all ages and loves to see children perform to the best of their ability.

Mollie Findley

Mollie is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in Civil Engineering Technology and a minor in mathematics. Mollie enjoys working with children of all ages and has, in the past, run and managed a preschool program. Mollie is a wonderful teacher and is always one of our most popular tutors!

Darla Woodrum

Darla Woodrum graduated from Lock Haven University in Lock Haven, PA with a degree in Elementary Education. Darla is a Pennsylvania-certified and Maryland-certified teacher. Her 6 years of teaching experiences include students in grades pre-school through high school. She enjoys traveling, shopping, and gardening when she is not working. Darla delights in teaching because “it is very rewarding to experience student success and feel you made a contribution”. “I LOVE to work at Sylvan. It provides an opportunity to have a positive impact on every child that comes through the door”.
