Success Stories

My son's confidence has been restored!

"To the staff at Sylvan Learning Center,
My name is Melissa Mulhern and I am writing you this email about my son Anthony Gardineer.
Some of you may or may not remember him, but he remembers you! He came in January 2010 and finished his hours in early June.
When Anthony was tested he was only at a 5th/6th grade level for reading and math. I choose to enroll him in the reading program at Sylvan to get him to an 8th grade level.
Anthony is repeating his 8th grade year in a new school and I wanted to take this time to say Thank You to all the teachers who helped him obtain his current success.
Anthony was a child that struggled through school since he was in the first grade which was extremely frustrating to his father and me.
Thank you to all the teachers at Sylvan! I am happy to report that Anthony is doing awesome. He is currently holding a B average in all of his classes. I honestly believe that this was the result of your help and guidance during his time at Sylvan. Not only did you help him obtain the goals that you set for him early on, you gave him the confidence that he lacked before now.
I know being a teacher sometimes may be a thankless job, and you may wonder if you are really getting through to your students. Wonder no more! Please think of my son Anthony and the doors that you have allowed him to open through your teaching.
I thank you all and wish you all continued success in all that you do."

The progress is tremendous!

""I can not express our gratitude to Faith, Rachel and the staff enough. The progress that we have seen with Madison is tremendous and we know that she has worked really hard and she deserves a lot of credit but it was made possible because of you and your teachers. From what we have experienced with the teachers that have worked with Madison, they are incredible people and they have made a difference in her life as well as ours. We know it has not always been a smooth road with Madison, and maybe she did not give 100% at every session, but she did her best for the most part and for that, we are so very proud of the person she has grown into. Your continued patience with her was amazing and appreciated more than you know. She had a serious confidence and lack of self-esteem problem when she started back in February and you would never know it today, 8 months later. It is clearly amazing what your program has done for her and for our whole family. It is a joy watching her excel so far this year. She will be okay, we know it. I would like anyone and everyone to know what your program has done for her. Thank you all so very much.""

A Very Satisfied Family

"Here is an idea of the letters that we receive from families who have watched the tutors at Langhorne Sylvan literally change the lives of their children. "Dear Faith and Sylvan Staff,

This letter is long overdue! We just wanted to send a letter to tell you and your staff thank you for making Zabrina feel better about being able to accomplish her school work and homework. Sylvan was like a second home to Zabrina each week from June 2007 until October 2007, 4 nights each week and nothing compared to the way everyone treated her and pushed her to learn her own capabilities. Homework is not even a struggle anymore and she is able to complete it on her own! Her first report card was a complete shock because of how well she did (all 85's and above)! The graduation ceremony was absolutely beautiful and well deserved by each student. The things you said about Zabrina were very comforting and completely unexpected. You made her feel like a star! Thank you for taking the time and helping Zabrina realize that she can be a better student and for making her time at Sylvan something that she will never forget, especially the theme weeks over the summer! Keep up the great work and motivation!

Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Voroscak"

Thanks!

"Why can't Sylvan be my school all day?"

"Dear Sylvan,

Thank you so much for helping me become a better reader. I was not very confident when I came to Sylvan a few months ago to take the first assessment. I was scared that I would not do a good job, but my Sylvan teacher, Ms. Ann, told me that she was happy that I tried my best. She gave me lots of tokens for my good try and I bought a football from the Sylvan store that made me happy.

Everytime I came back to Sylvan, I just tried as hard as I could. I like the way the teachers always say, "Good job!" I feel great when I leave a Sylvan class. Sometimes I think, "Why can't Sylvan be my school all day?"

Over the past few weeks, I have not fought with my mom about doing homework because it has become easier for me to read. I am doing much better in school and am finally looking forward to a good report card. Thank you for making my life easier! I am actually excited now to go into 9th grade."

You have inspired both of my sons!

"Dear Sylvan,

This is just a quick note to tell you that I am so happy to have had both of my sons participate in your programs. Both boys completed your Advanced Reading Skills course and not only did they both increase their reading speed by about 200%, but both boys often boast of a greater love of reading. I am so grateful! My younger son actually requested to do the program after he saw what a difference it made for his older brother. Both boys told me that it literally was "life-changing," and I am so happy we invested the time and money into giving them that gift.
My youngest son also completed your Academic Writing program. He was not confident with expressing himself on paper before he started this program. Essays came to him with such difficulty, it pained me to see him struggle to write accurately and adequately. After working with your terrific teachers, he actually ENJOYS some of the writing that is assigned for school. He knows how to construct an argument and back himself up with examples. Overall, he is so much more confident that I cannot thank you enough.
Thank you, Sylvan, for helping my sons achieve their goals and full potential!"

...and I KNOW my daughter wasn't easy...

"Dear Faith, Rachel and the wonderful Sylvan teachers,
I am writting to you today because I cannot believe that my daughter started your program only months ago. When I first brought her into your center, she was a terribly shy, resistant 1st grader who had lost all of her confidence in reading. I believe that between her and I, we have thrown EVERY POSSIBLE curveball your way with her tough schedule and her picky, shy personality and I must say....your rose to the occation in ALL regards. I cannot believe that my now 2nd grader received her very first "4" for reading on her report card, and I see her confidence soar. Thanks again for all you have done. I don't know how you did it, but I will never forget it.
Sincerely,
Ms. H."
