Alison Jones

Center Director

Alison's passion for teaching extended beyond teaching High School Students in Anne Arundel and Montgomery County and landed her into the life changing Sylvan Experience. Alison enjoys touching the lives of family with Sylvan supplemental educational opportunities. Alison graduated from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. She can be found greeting students and parents in the doors of the Columbia Sylvan Learning Center and she looks forward to assisting you and your family.

Jacalyn Rudolph

Program Manager

Ms. Jackie is the program manager at our center in Columbia. She graduated from Towson University with a degree in Elementary Education and received her Master of Education from Loyola College. She has over twenty years of experience working with children. Currently, she also teaches at the Goddard School. Ms. Jackie likes to spend time with her grandchildren and her pets. She also likes to read and crochet in her free time.

Ms. Karla assists the instructors and directors with helping our students achieve their goals. She will graduate from the University of Maryland Baltimore County in May with a major in English Literature. She enjoys reading, exercising, and spending time with her pets in her free time.

Ms. Terry aids the instructors and directors in helping the students reach their goals. She will graduate from the University of Maryland Baltimore County in May with a degree in Communications and Technology. She enjoys spending her free time watching movies with family and friends.

Mr. Dishan aids the instructors and directors in helping the students reach their goals. He is currently a student at Howard Community College working on his degree in Engineering. He likes to build things and play World of Warcraft in his free time.

Mr. Matt assists the instructors and directors with helping our students achieve their goals. He graduated from the University of Maryland Baltimore County in 2009 with a major in Mathematics. He likes to read, listen to music, and enjoy outdoor recreational activities in his free time.

Marcelino Bedolla

Instructor

Mr. Marcelino tutors Math Essentials, Advanced Math, Geometry, Study Skills and the SAT class at our center in Columbia. He graduated from Wayne State University in 1963 with a major in Physics. He completed graduate work in Education at Johns Hopkins University and Loyola College. Mr. Marcelino is a retired teacher who used to work in the Baltimore City public school system. He is interested in astronomy and enjoys looking through his telescope. In his free time, Mr. Marcelino also enjoys reading and hiking.

Drew Dicus

Mr. Drew tutors Reading, Math Essentials, Advanced Math, Geometry, Study Skills, and Writing. He graduated from Towson University in 1995 with a major in Mathematics. Mr. Drew is an upper level math teacher at Liberty High School in Carroll County. He enjoys watching baseball games and spending time with his family.

Ruth Harris

Instructor

Ms. Ruth teaches Reading, Math Essentials, Study Skills and Writing. She graduated from Cheyney State University in 1960 with a major in Elementary Education. Ms. Ruth also substitutes for grades 1 through 8. Some of her favorite pastimes include reading and socializing.

David Kiick

Mr. David tutors Math Essentials, Advanced Math, Geometry, Calculus, Study Skills and Writing at our center in Columbia. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1993 with a major in Physics. Currently, Mr. David also works as an analyst at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory. He is interested in naval history and enjoys playing video games in his free time. Mr. David has had the opportunity to travel around the world.

Andrea Popel

Ms. Andrea teaches Reading, Math Essentials, Study Skills, and Writing. She graduated from Saint Peter’s College with a major in Communication and is actively working towards her Master’s in Education from Georgian Court University. She teaches Special Education at Woodlawn High School. In her free time, Ms. Andrea travels and spends time with her family. She is able to speak, write, and read fluently in Ukrainian.

Darin Segal

Instructor

Mr. Darin teaches Math Essentials, Advanced Math, Geometry, and Study Skills. He is also an active instructor for our SAT/ACT programs. He graduated from University of Maryland Baltimore County in 1996 with a major in Mathematics. Mr. Darin serves as a financial analyst for the Social Security Administration. He is interested in ice hockey and enjoys spending time with his family.
