Read Across America
On March 2, 2011, Sylvan Learning joined with National Education Association (NEA) to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday and the love of reading. Sylvan Crofton was excited to read to over 1000 students at four different schools.
Thank you for helping Sylvan and Anne Arundel County Public Schools feed the hungry
Did you know that over 1/3 of people served by emergency food programs are children? This is why Sylvan Learning, in partnership with Anne Arundel County Public Schools, has collected donations for the last three years for the Harvest for the Hungry campaign. For 3 years in a row, Sylvan students have rallied together to raise over 50 pounds of food to support this worthy cause. Nice work, team!
Arundel Middle Leadership Program partners with Sylvan Learning
Arundel Middle School's pilot student leadership program has partnered with Sylvan Learning Center to help its students achieve. Students will spend a 25 week time frame working with leadership skills, civic responsibility, and financial strength training. Sylvan Learning is proud to partner with Arundel Middle's PTSA and the 4-H program to help these young leaders grow and shine.
Helping high school students achieve
Sylvan in Crofton has partnered with Meade Senior High School to offer an SAT diagnostic test to all interested students. All proceeds from these events benefit the Meade High PTSA, and we are able to help many students practice with the SAT and receive a realistic score. We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Meade Senior High School by offering an on-site SAT class.

Calling all teachers--what's your wish?
Sylvan is here to serve as a community resource, which includes helping hard-working teachers supply their classrooms. Once a month, we give the gift of granting a teacher's wish. Books? Supplies? Someone to read to your students? The possibilities are endless!

In August, Sylvan helped to sponsor Meade High School's School Beautification Day. Sylvan staff, along with teachers, parents, and students of Meade High School, spent a great morning helping to clean, plant, and paint! Fun was had by all, and the school benefited from this great event!
