Sylvan Learning Center has created HSA Camps that will focus on the key skills that your student will need to score successfully on the Maryland HSA Exam. There is an Algebra, English, Biology, and Government Camp. One benefit from these camps is that they are a combination of group and one-on-one instruction to ensure maximum learning. Each camp will include a 2 hour sample exam which Sylvan will use to determine your students strengths and weaknesses. Then Sylvan will use that information throughout each twelve hour camp.

The individual SAT I/ACT/SAT II program available at the Pikesville center is unique in both its design and content. Each student’s curriculum is constructed (and revised) daily, based on the results of an extensive initial diagnostic skills assessment in conjunction his/her’s progress throughout the preceding instructional sessions. In short, your child’s educational outline does not come from a pre-existing text; this is NOT a “one size fits all” situation. Each program will contain only the elements needed by that student.
We will address all of the following:
•Math Topics
•The strategies needed to make “difficult” questions really easy
•Writing skills, including the classical structure of an essay
•Review of English mechanics and usage
•How to handle rhetorical and stylistic questions on the writing portion of BOTH SAT/ACT
•Strategies for answering Reading Comprehension on standardized tests
•Methods needed to deal with the Science REASONING section of the ACT

Sylvan Learning Center in Pikesville will gladly oversee the administration of exams. The following requirements apply; the appointment should be set in advance Monday through Saturday. Test should be sent to the center via email or US Mail. Written instructions should be provided along with postage paid envelope for returning the testing material if necessary.
Weekday Assessments are given from 9:00 AM through 3:00 PM Monday through Friday.
Weekend assessments are given on Saturday at 9:00 AM through 12:00 PM.
Length of Exam determines proctoring cost.
