Study Skills Seminar Programs
Sylvan offers three-week-long seminars in each key area of study skills. The four content areas are: organization, time management, goal setting, study planning; note-taking, managing, presenting, information; reading, research & study techniques; test-taking strategies & anxiety management. The program is taught in a small-group seminar of six students or less, and meets twice a week for two-hour sessions. A student's study skills and study habits have a dramatic effect on school performance. Students must be prepared to test throughtout their academic careers. Designed to improve a student’s achievement in a specific subject area, the Lynchburg Learning center offers high school classroom support in advanced maths up through Calculus; sciences including Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Earth sciences; foreign languagues Spanish and French; and humanities and social sciences. Support is offered year-round in-center or in-home. Call 832-1000 for information.
Test Prep
Exam Proctoring
Sylvan Learning Center in Lynchburg will gladly oversee the administration of exams. The appointment must be set in advance and take place on a weekday between 9am and 3pm or on a Saturday between 9am and 12pm. Test should be sent to the center via email or US Mail. Written instructions should be provided along with a postage paid envelope for returning the testing material if necessary. Length of exam determines proctoring cost.
