Sabrina is our Spotlight Student!
"Sabrina started her learning plan in June of 2010. After a difficult 5th grade year, we decided it was time to help Sabrina build on the basic skills. Sabrina had reached a point of NO confidence and believed she was stupid. In her mind, there was no way to do the work so she shut down.
When we arrived for the assessment, Sabrina immediately noticed the "Sabrina, Welcome to Sylvan" sign on the door. She was so excited and smiled from ear to ear. After her first few sessions you could see she was building confidence. It was great to see the transformation happening each week!
Sabrina never shared details, but kept us assured that she was learning. Every teacher went out of their way to help her enjoy learning. Summers are a time for fun, swimming and sleeping in. Saprina rarely complained an was disciplined with her time.
Open house for 6th grade was August 16th. After the orientation session we were given the opportunity to visit the classrooms and introduce ourselves to teachers. The math classroom was very busy and when Sabrina was asked if she wanted to wait and talk to the teacher she replied, "that is ok, I am smart in math now."
After the first two weeks of school Sabrina is doing very well in her subjects. With any student you will have ups and downs in grades. We are very proud of her growth in math, but more than anything in her confidence.
Our goal for Sabrina is to know she can accomplish anything if she sets her mind to it. With the wonderful guidance of our Sylvan center we have no doubt that her growth is limitless."
