Our Sylvan trained and certified tutors are dedicated to your child’s success. Working together with you, we will:

- Develop a personalized learning plan based on your child’s goals
- Offer unique insights about what will work for your child
- Teach each lesson the way your child learns best
- Build a relationship with your child to provide learning that’s fun, engaging and rewarding
Julie Minix
Director of Education
Julie graduated from Appalachian State with a degree in Elementary Education and spent 8 years as a public school teacher in NC. She decided to use her classroom experience to pursue a slightly different avenue in education and we are so lucky that she chose Sylvan!
Julie is our Director of Education, where she invests her time in improving the lives of students and families. She has a passion for children and helping them succeed. Working at Sylvan has allowed that passion to become a reality!
Tia Carter
Center Director
Tia graduated from Tuskegee University with a degree in Electrical Engineering and a BS in Physics. She spent 6 years as a Patent Examiner for the United States Patent & Trademark office. She decided to focus her love for mathematics toward a career in education, resulting in over 5 years of teaching experience in Baltimore City Public School System as well as Johnston County Public School System in Smithfield, NC. With an advid love for education and learning Tia has developed several non-profit tutorial programs.
Tia is our Center Director, where she invests her time in providing community awareness and support to the lives of students and families. She has a passion for learning and helping children/parents reach successful goals. Working at Sylvan has allowed that passion to become a reality!
