Our Sylvan trained and certified tutors are dedicated to your child’s success. Working together with you, we will:
LeAnne has been with Sylvan since 1998 and is also the director of the Ladson center. She began as a Sylvan teacher while working in the school system as a middle school English teacher. LeAnne also knows first-hand how Sylvan can improve SAT scores. She enrolled in our program when she was a senior in high school and improved her score over 100 points! LeAnne is a graduate of The University of South Carolina. The Lowcountry Sylvan Learning Centers have won many Sylvan national awards under her leadership.
Ellen Greis is the Assistant Director of Education at our Sylvan location. She received her Bachelor’s degree in English and Secondary Education with a Theater minor from Thiel College in Greenville, Pennsylvania. She is a member of Sigma Tau Delta (an international English honor society), and Kappa Delta Pi (an international education honor society). She has experience teaching preschool, middle school, and high school. Ellen has been with Sylvan for two years.
Jeanette Deden is a native of Charleston and a graduate of the College of Charleston. She received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education, followed by additional training in learning disabilities. A veteran teacher, Ms. Jeanette has been educating Sylvan students for nine years.
Hermine Nelson graduated from Hampton Institute in
Helen Page received her Bachelor’s of Science in Education from East Carolina University, her Master’s of Education from William and Mary, and her postgraduate degree in Reading from The Citadel. She has experience teaching in the Virginia and South Carolina public school systems. Ms. Helen has been helping Sylvan students reach their full potential for eleven years
Kirsten Goodwin is blessed to have a loving, devoted husband and a very energetic six year-old son named Duncan. She has a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from East Carolina University. Kirsten has experience teaching in the North Carolina and South Carolina school systems and is certified to teach both typically and exceptionally developing students. Kirsten has been with Sylvan for four years
Sydney Walmsley attended the College of Charleton Honors College, where she studied Literary and Creative Writing in addition to History and Advanced Mathematical Theory. After receiving her Bachelor’s degree, she went on to earn her Master’s in Fin de Siècle Literature through a joint program with the Citadel and the College of Charleston in only a year and a half. Sydney has numerous publications and related conference appearances dealing with such subjects as imperial legal history and the culmination of 20th century extremist art and mathematics at their intersection. Currently, she is working on her PhD in colonial and post colonial literary studies. She has experience teaching at the secondary and collegiate levels. Sydney has been with Sylvan for two years.
