Meet the Tutors
Our Sylvan trained and certified tutors are dedicated to your child’s success. Working together with you, we will:

- Develop a personalized learning plan based on your child’s goals
- Offer unique insights about what will work for your child
- Teach each lesson the way your child learns best
- Build a relationship with your child to provide learning that’s fun, engaging and rewarding
Paul A Mauger, PH.D
Executive Director
Dr. Mauger has managed Sylvan Learning Centers since 1986. Before that he taught at Georgia State University. He is the author of 28 research papers and has published three psychological tests. He lives in Stockbridge and has two sons at Pates Creek Elementary School and a daughter in the special needs class at Eagles Landing Middle School. Besides more than 35 years of college teaching, he has taught an adult Sunday School class at Bethel United Methodist Church for 13 years.

Carole Kavanaugh
Director of Education
Carole graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Education. She complete her Master's degree at Georgia State University. After teaching for 31 years in many Georgia counties, Carole retired from the Fayette County School System. She started at Sylvan, April 2001, as a teacher and has had several management positions before becoming Director of Education. Carole has one granddaughter and hopes to spend more time with Caroline and the new baby who is expected in December.
