Meet the Tutors
Our Sylvan trained and certified tutors are dedicated to your child’s success. Working together with you, we will:

Megan Crist
Director of Education
Megan graduated from Florida State University in 2002 with a degree in Multinational Business. She is a Certified Teacher in the state of Florida. Her certifications include: Elementary Education (K-6) and Middle Grades Mathematics (5-9). Before she became a Director at Sylvan, she taught Intensive Reading at Killarney Elementary in Orange County. Megan has been with Sylvan since December of 2006 and is currently the Director of Education in Lake Mary and Ocoee. She loves watching the kids learn and grow, achieving their goals for lifelong success.
Jade Patterson

Sean Sumter
Instructor/Upper Level Math/ SAT Math
Sean has been with Sylvan since 2006. He has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and an M.S. in Engineering. He spent 14 years as a Design Engineer, and is now our upper level math teacher at Sylvan. His goal is to help kids get over the difficult times with learning and understanding math. He uses real life examples and breaks it down, so that students can see the value of learning math and how it relates to life on a daily basis.
Christie Clark
Instructor
Christie has recently graduated from the University of Central Florida with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education. Her goal is to excel in her own classroom while obtaining her Masters in Education Leadership. She has been with Sylvan since January 2009 and really enjoys helping the students develop life long skills for their future.

Carolyne Zavardino
District Director
Carolyne graduated from Winthrop University with a degree in Early Childhood Education. After teaching in Duval County, Carolyne moved to St. Louis, MO where she began working for Sylvan in 2001. Carolyne started with Sylvan as a Director of Education and moved into a Center Director position in 2006. Carolyne and her husband have lived in Central Florida since 2004. Carolyne's daughter Elizabeth is a happy Florida girl who loves living close to Disney!
