Getting a Jump Start for School"I enrolled my son at Sylvan when he was 4-1/2 years old before school even started. I wanted him to have confidence in school, and did not want him to be lost in the crowd. Sylvan gave him a jump-start. He has been in the reading program for two years and now he can read the entire newspaper to me. About a year and a half ago, he started hating math. He cried and had temper tantrums when he had to do math. The staff at Sylvan said that students often hate a subject because they don’t understand it, and suggested we enroll in a math program. Now, after a year and a half, he has confidence and loves math. At Sylvan, they will give him extra hard math problems to challenge him." - Lindi Meier |
Meeting the Challenge of Middle School Math"The reason for coming to Sylvan is because my daughter was struggling in eighth grade math. Every night she needed help with math homework. I did not want to relearn all the math from school myself and teach it to her, so I enrolled her in Sylvan. After being in the Sylvan math program, she went from a C to an A. She also has raised her FCAT score dramatically. She now enjoys math, and says ‘Math is easy.’ She no longer needs my help with homework. We looked into a private tutor, however, after going through the full testing system Sylvan goes through and how they help her with memorization, it was a better choice. They are very organized. She loves her tutor." - Pam Romain |
