Our Sylvan trained and certified tutors are dedicated to your child’s success. Working together with you, we will:

Annette R Miller
Executive Director/Owner
Annette has been a Sylvan Owner for over eleven years. She has enjoyed operating centers that have guided students in several counties to reach their maximum academic potential. Annette currently owns and operates nine Sylvan Learning Center as well as plays an active role in the communities in order to help educate parents about the wonderful opportunity Sylvan can bring to a child of any age. Annette has been married for ten years to Doug and is a proud mother of two beautiful children.
Caila Daziel
Office Manager
Caila has been an invaluable member of the Sylvan team for over four years. Caila holds many responsibilities including office management and administering assessments. She is often the first person families meet. She has received her Associates degree in Journalism and is currently enrolled at St. Leo University pursuing her Bachelors in Criminal Justice. When she is not working or in school, she enjoys reading, watching movies, and kick boxing.
Diane Mayer
Instructor
Diane is a graduate of Concordia University, River Forest, Illinois, where she majored in elementary education. She moved to Florida in 1969 to teach 3rd grade at Grace Lutheran School, Winter Haven. Diane has taught in Polk, Seminole, and Pinellas Counties. Diane and her husband now live in Valrico. They have two sons. Diane began teaching at the Brandon Sylvan Learning Center in July of 2004.
Kira Mark
Instructor
Kira has lived in Valrico, FL, for the past six years, but is originally from Fairbanks, AK. She began working at Sylvan as a Teacher Assistant in November 2006. Immediately, she knew she wanted to be an instructor. Since then, she has graduated from Bloomingdale High School and received her Associates degree in Education from Hillsborough Community College. She is currently working towards her Bachelor's degree in Secondary Mathematics Education at the University of South Florida and is expected to graduate in the Fall 2012. In her free time, Kira loves creating art (specifically pottery), and reading mystery and historical novels. Her hopes are to influence students to pursue their own interests and achieve academic success.
Lauren McKelvey
Instructor
Lauren is from Seffner, Florida. She enjoys playing softball, baking and decorating cakes, and spending time with her family. She is working on her Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Social Science Education at USF. She worked at the Y for 3 years and has worked with Sylvan since June of 2010. She truly believes that Sylvan allows children to attain their academic goals.
Chris Mackey
Instructor
Chris is currently a student at the University of South Florida earning his bachelors degree in Computer Engineering. He has always had a strong curiosity for how things work; the desire to truly comprehend the physics behind things. (Computers being just one small aspect of his interests). Some of his academic interests aside from math and physics include etymologies, psychology, ancient history (namely the wars), among others. Outside of school he enjoys dancing, martial arts, motorcycles, and videogames. The latter of which he's spent considerable time not only playing, but also learning how to make and develop. He still considers himself a kid at heart and enjoys working with and helping others with what he has learned over the years. His favorite thing about Sylvan is that it allows him to help more students than individual tutoring would have.
Jamie Broderick
Instructor
Jamie is originally from Connecticut and moved to Florida in 2009. She and her husband have three sons and a golden retriever. Jamie graduated from Villanova University with a degree in Electrical Engineering and has been both a substitute for grades K through 12 and a temporary math teacher for several area high schools. She enjoys staying active in her free time and has a brown belt in Kenpo Karate along with a first degree black belt in Goju Ryu.
Taylor Brittain
Instructor's Assistant
Taylor was born in Tampa, Florida and has lived here ever since. He likes to play sports, such as, football and paintball. He plans on going to college, but is unsure as to where he would like to attend or what he will study. His favorite thing about working at Sylvan is the fun students who make the day interesting.
