Christy Taylor, B.A. Education, M.Ed. Adult Education and Training

Director

Christy has worked in education for ten years. Her background ranges from pre-K through adult education and she has extensive experience in nonprofit partnerships with the business community. She is also currently pursuing her MBA. When she is not teaching, she enjoys scuba diving, judo, and spending time with her husband and two teenage daughters.

Annette Miller

Executive Director / Owner

Annette has been a Sylvan Owner for over eleven years. She has enjoyed operating centers that have guided students in several counties to reach their maximum academic potential. Annette currently owns and operates nine Sylvan Learning Center as well as plays an active role in the communities in order to help educate parents about the wonderful opportunity Sylvan can bring to a child of any age. Annette has been married for ten years to Doug and is a proud mother of two beautiful children.

Patsy Delp, B.S. Special Education, M.E. Educational Leadership

Instructor

Patsy comes to Sylvan from Sells, Arizona where she was both a teacher and a principal at the Santa Rosa Ranch School under the auspices of the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Her background includes working with diverse populations that include Hispanics and Native Americans. Patsy received her B.S. degree from Bloomsburg State University with a major in Special Education and her M.E. degree from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. Patsy brings boundless enthusiasm to our Sylvan Learning Center.

Samantha Churchwell, B.S. Elementary Education

Instructor

Samantha is a native of Citrus County, Florida. She is a graduate of Saint Leo University with a Bachelor degree in Elementary Education. Samantha is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership. She is an active member in her community. She believes if a child is given the proper tools they will build a successful future.

Caila Daziel

Administrative Assistant

Caila has been an invaluable member of our team for over three years. Caila holds many responsibilities including office management and administering assessments. She is often the first person families meet. She has received her Associates degree in Journalism and is currently enrolled at St. Leo University pursuing her Bachelor's in Criminal Justice. When she is not working or in school, she enjoys reading, watching movies, and kickboxing.

Lorrie Van Voorthuijsen

Instructor

A native of New Jersey, Lorrie has lived and taught in Florida since 1980. After teaching kindergarten for many years on the east coast in Lake Worth and Miami, Lorrie moved to Citrus County in 1998, where she home-schooled her two sons. She has developed a love of volunteering- she leads a 4H club, helps with "coastal clean-up", works with Partners for a Substance Free Citrus as the youth chair, and gives the "children's message" weekly at her church. She, along with her husband Ted, enjoys kayaking, camping, walking the dogs, and riding their tandem bicycle.
