Our Sylvan trained and certified tutors are dedicated to your child’s success. Working together with you, we will:
Cathy opened the Sylvan Learning Center in Clermont in August of 2007 with tremendous support from the community. Due to the success of the first center, in October of 2008, an additional center was opened in Mount Dora to service the northern portion of Lake County. Prior to moving to Florida, Cathy was very active in the Portage Michigan Board of Education, spearheading the Great Books program in the elementary schools there. Currently she is on the steering committee to bring a much needed Boys & Girls Club to South Lake County. Cathy and her husband Mark live in Clermont and have three children.
Aside from Mark's professional responsibilities as the owner of Graff Holdings and the Executive Director of Sylvan Learning Centers in Clermont and Mount Dora, Mark is extremely active in the community. He is on the Board of Directors for AmericanFirst Bank, South Lake Chamber of Commerce, South Lake Soccer and Cornerstone Hospice. He also serves as a committee member for the South Lake Economic Development Committee, the South Lake Headquarters Committee, the Lake County School Board Medical Magnet School Architect Selection Committee, and the Lake County School Board Technology Advisory Committee. In the past he has coached baseball, soccer and basketball, but is currently coaching his youngest daughter in soccer. Mark and his wife, Cathy, live in Clermont with their three children.
Svet Epstein received her Bachelor's degree in Business Management from Johnson & Wales University. She has been working with Sylvan Learning Center since 2002. As Director of Operations, she oversees the day-to-day management of the center including meeting with parents and managing staff. She lives in Orlando with her husband and two children.
Beth Simpson received her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Montana. She was a Fifth Grade Teacher and Library Media Specialist before she came to work for Sylvan. She began working with Sylvan in 2009. As Director of Education, she manages the educational programs of the center. She lives in Ocoee with her husband and dog.
