Raul was born and raised in Puerto Rico. He moved to the US in 1996 to pursue a career in Education. He began working part-time for Sylvan in 2003 as an Instructor and was promoted to Director level in May of 2004. He loves working with students at a very individual level which is why he loves working for Sylvan. In his spare time, Raul enjoys reading, playing video games, and watching movies. He has 2 pets, a dog named Lexi and a kitty named Susie.
She has lived in Florida for five years and moved to enjoy the sunny weather of Central Florida. Jennifer loves going to the local beaches. Jennifer taught science and social studies for three years at a local middle school. She started at Sylvan three years ago and began as a teacher, eventually learned how to update the curriculum, and became a testing coordinator. Jennifer loves the challenges and excitement of Sylvan. She looks forward to improving the education for all of her students!
Annette has been a Sylvan Owner for over eleven years. She has enjoyed operating centers that have guided students in several counties to reach their maximum academic potential. Annette currently owns and operates nine Sylvan Learning Center as well as plays an active role in the communities in order to help educate parents about the wonderful opportunity Sylvan can bring to a child of any age. Annette has been married for ten years to Doug and is a proud mother of two beautiful children.
Michele holds certificates of education in the states of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Florida. She has been with Sylvan for over 5 years and has lived in Florida for over 10 years. She currently teaches kindergarten in Osceola county and also shares her artistic talents with at-risk youth by teaching an art class 2 days per week.
Betty has been with Sylvan since fall of 2003. She is actively involved with our students' programs from initial testing to curriculum preparation and curriculum monitoring. Betty enjoys working with children and is a Sunday school teacher and youth leader at her local church. In her spare time, Betty enjoys visting with friends and going out.
Jason is a graduate of Florida State University with a B.S. in Biochemistry. His hobbies include scuba diving, collecting currency from foreign countries and traveling whenever possible. Jason has been with Sylvan for over 5 years and has taught all Sylvan programs, including SAT prep and homework support for a variety of subjects. Jason also oversees and monitors student curriculum at Sylvan.
Lori has worked in remedial reading and special education classrooms for over 10 years. She is currently the manager of the Bookmark buddies Reading Program, a volunteer mentoring program for at-risk third graders in Osceola county.
Rhonda is a native of Ohio and graduated from Bowling Green State University with a bachelor's degree in Psychology. She continued her education and earned a second bachelor's degree from Youngstown State University in elementary education before moving to Florida. She is currently a fifth grade teacher at Mill Creek Elementary School in Kissimmee, Florida where she has been for over 6 years. She spends her free time shopping, hanging out on the beach, and cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers!
After moving to Florida from New York, Edie has adapted to the sun and laid back Florida lifestyle. She is currently at Thacker Elementary school and enjoys working with children. Her hobbies include relaxing at the beach, sewing, and going to the movies.
Alison was born in Puerto Rico and is the youngest of three daughters. She wanted to be a teacher since she was very young. Alison has followed in the footsteps of her mother and older sister by becoming a teacher in Osceola county.
Susan is a native of Florida. She moved to the Orlando area several years ago from Destin, FL. She is a graduate of the University of South Alabama. She currently teaches at Poinciana Elementary and enjoys working with children.
Rob has been a guidance counselor at Poinciana Elementary for over 5 years. Rob grew up in Buffalo, New York and moved to the Central Florida area eight years ago.
Monika was born and raised in Germany. She moved to Kissimmee in 1994. She has taught elementary, middle school and high school level students throughout her career with Osceola county schools. Monika enjoys working with students of all ages.
Felita was born in Puerto Rico, and raised in Chicago, Illinois where she completed her education. She has been a teacher for over twelve years. She enjoys working with children. Felita is completing her Master's Degree in ESOL, and she hopes to teach English as a second language in the future. Felita enjoys cleaning the house, spending time with her family, and traveling.
Mabel was born in New York and raised in Puerto Rico. She is married and has four children. She has over 18 years of teaching experience in both the private and public schools. Besides teaching at Sylvan, She currently works at Gateway High School, the Hospital Homebound program, and at the Adult Learning center teaching English to adults.
Patricia was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and attended Hofstra University in Long Island, New York. She moved to Florida several years ago. Patricia feels that Sylvan instills each student with the knowledge and pride and incentive to learn more about themselves and their education.
Lucillia attended UCF to pursue her Master's degree in Language Arts. After receiving her Master's degree, Lucillia became a Reading teacher. Lucillia currently teaches at Freedom Middle school. She is working on her National board for Professional teachers.
Alison graduated from University of Florida with a degree in Elementary education. She taught first grade in Gainesville for a year before moving to Orlando. Alison has taught at Deerwood Elementary and is currently teaching second grade at Poinciana Elementary. Alison enjoys working at Sylvan.
Mary is a life-long learner and dedicated Educator for over 30 years. She has taught school in various levels and then became a Principal. After she retired, she came back to education as an Assistant Principal. She enjoys tutoring students to see them grow and progress.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Diana taught elementary school for 9 years in both Catholic and public schools. She has been married for 30 years and has one child. She is currently working at SeaWorld and at Sylvan.
Jo Ann was born in New York, then lived in Puerto Rico for several years. Having been in Florida for over 6 years,she currently teaches middle school science, life science, earth/space science and physical science in Osceola County School District. She is certified in middle school integrated curriculum and Exceptional Student Education.
Miyah was born and raised in Florida. She completed her undergraduate study at Tallassee Community College and Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. She worked for DCF for about a year and decided to further her education. She feels that working with kids in the public school system and at Sylvan has been truly rewarding.
JR is a native of Haiti, and speaks French, Spanish, Haitian, Italian, and English. He teaches math at Gateway High School. JR loves living in Florida, enjoys reading, and also plays guitar for his church's choir.
Omar was born in Puerto Rico and moved to Florida after completing his Bachelor's degree. He earned his MBA in 2006 and has been working in the accounting world. Omar loves being part of the Sylvan family and sharing his knowledge with kids, who are the world's future.
Taina is completing her Bachelor's degree in education and is also a substitute teacher for Orange County public schools. She loves teaching and believes that education is the key to success. Her interests include reading, writing, math, traveling and playing the piano.
Vicky was born in Venezuela and was raised on a little island called Bonaire for 6 years. Upon moving to Florida, Vicky graduated from a local high school, Gateway High. She is currently enrolled at Valencia Community College and is majoring in Elementary Education. Vicky loves working with children and Sylvan is giving her a great opportunity in her field.
