Our Sylvan trained and certified tutors are dedicated to your child’s success. Working together with you, we will:
Elandriel has been with Sylvan since 2009, and has been the Director for the Green Hills center since March 2011. She graduated with a B.S. in Biology from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1995, obtained her elementary teaching credential from California State University, Bakersfield in 1997, and graduated with a M.A. in Environmental Education form California State University, San Bernardino in 2001. Elandriel started teaching 4th and 5th grade in rural Los Angeles County, California in 1997. Since then she has written curriculum for NASA, taught English as a Second Language in South Korea, was a Humanities Specialist in Las Vegas, and finally came home to Nashville in 2008. In her spare time she enjoys reading, writing, photography, and teaching guitar. But to be honest, since her daughter was born in April, she spends all her spare time trying to make that cutie laugh (which isn’t hard).
Andrew Miller is a 2007 graduate of Baylor University with a Bachelor’s of Arts in English. Following graduation, he taught 9th grade Honors and 12th grade AP English at University High School in Waco, Texas before moving to Nashville in early 2011.
In addition to teaching at Sylvan, he is a staff writer and copyeditor for Nashville Music Guide. In his free time, Andrew enjoys reading fiction and philosophy, creative writing, and other nerdy pursuits. Andrew once had a slinky, but he straightened it, and he hopes that one day the Texas Rangers will go to the World Series and not lose.
Eileen graduated from the University of Missouri – St. Louis in 1990 with a degree in Elementary Education. She worked special needs students in the St. Louis school system in the 1990s, while working for Sylvan. Realizing that working for Sylvan was her calling, Eileen left the school system and never looked back. She has worked for Sylvan in 4 different states as a tutor, lead teacher, Director of Education, and Center Director. Being a Sylvan Rock Star can be exhausting, so to relax, Eileen loves to write children’s books and cook.
Craig earned his B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Centre College of Kentucky, and his M.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Louisville. Craig grew up in an extended family of educators, and had several teachers outside of his family that he came to admire. He has come to appreciate that “Ah ha!” moment all good teachers value in themselves and their students. Craig enjoys working at Sylvan and helping his students reach that moment and find success.
Adam earned his B.S. in Mathematics and his B.A. in Music, and will graduate this upcoming May, 2012, with his M.Ed. in Secondary Ed in Mathematics from Vanderbilt University. Adam has been with Sylvan since 2009, and enjoys helping his students become math starts at school. Adam specializes in Sylvan's Math Essentials and Essentials of Algebra programs, as well as Homework Support in advanced math.
Kerri earned a B.A. in English from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and a M.S. in Counseling from The University of Memphis. A Memphis native, she is a fan of the blues and the sound of B.B King's guitar, "Lucille." She moved to Nashville in 2005 and has enjoyed every minute, even some country music. She spent five years as a school counselor with Williamson County Schools where she enjoyed providing support for children in grades K-5 and teaching character education classes as well as serving as General Education Intervention Team (GEIT) Coordinator. In addition to teaching at Sylvan, Kerri is a freelance writer who has written for The Commercial Appeal, The Prague Post, Nashville Parent, Brentwood Home Page and various other publications. She is also a contributing blogger for the online finance company iQuantifi.com.
Van Lynn received her K-8 certification form Aquinas College, and her Master of Arts in K-12 Special Education form Lipscomb University. She has worked for Sylvan for 9 years and considers working with the students that come into the center and witnessing their continual progress to be one of the greatest joys of her career as a teacher.
Chris is a retired teacher with 22 years of experience in Alabama schools. She was born and raised in Nashville, and obtained her degree at Birmingham-Southern College. She has three grandchildren, and enjoys reading and making jewelry. Chris specializes in Sylvan's Academic Reading program.
