Homework Is No Longer A Battle!

"Elandriel-

I just wanted to let you know how much we appreciate you and your team. As you know, my 8 year old son was really struggling with reading (barely at a first grade level) when we came to you in November. His teacher was concerned that he might have a learning disability because he was putting in a tremendous amount of effort, yet was not making progress. He had begun to hate reading and anything related to it (spelling, grammar). Despite a proficiency in math, he was becoming frustrated in that subject as a consequence of word problems. After your evaluation, you felt he did not understand phonics which was impeding his progress in learning to read. After less than two months in your program, he came home from school and told me, “I am no longer in the lowest reading group! They moved me up!”. Now, 4 months into the program, he has continued to make remarkable progress and is reading at the 3rd grade level. Although he would still rather play than do homework, it is no longer a battle because he knows he can do the work. Grades in all subjects are up and he has much more confidence in himself. Best of all—he is becoming a child who loves to read. I can’t thank you enough for that.

My Daughter's Reading Has Greatly Improved!

"I want to advocate as to how Sylvan Learning Center has greatly improved my daughter's reading. My daughter has never been a reader due to the fact that she never comprehended the pronunciation of fundamental words.

Since she has been attending the center over the last 6 weeks, her math teacher has told me she has improved greatly. She also now reads books that challenge her. She is willing to read aloud to me, and she tries to read books that are more on her level.

I'm very appreciative of Elandriel and Sylvan. My daughter looks forward to the days she goes to the center."

"We are most appreciative and well pleased with the services that have been provided to our daughter. She was having difficulty learning her multiplication tables. She is a visual learner. Sylvan provided Tara with Triangle Flash Cards that helped her to identify the mathematical relationship between multiplication and division. She was able to understand this when she used the cards to help her learn the multiplication tables successfully at a crucial time in her educational development. Once again she enjoys math and school. She is eager to learn and attend school now. In addition, she was recently asked to help with a Family Math night at her school by leading a math game. She also eagerly participated in the math relay and was able to answer math questions during this relay very quickly.

We received the best Christmas present when we learned that her Sylvan assessment scores indicated that she had scored beyond her grade level.
