I was born and raised in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. After graduating from Bishop Luers High School, I attended the University of Notre Dame and then transferred to Indiana University to complete my Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Education. I have been fortunate to receive several national awards for our local centers, including Director of the Year and Outstanding Operation Award. My 20-plus years with Sylvan have been successful and fulfilling- What more can you ask for from a profession!
I grew up in LaOtto, Indiana, on a farm with my dad and brother until I graduated from East Noble High School. I then moved to Bloomington where I attended Indiana University. I majored in Elementary Education and graduated in 1992. Upon graduation, I moved to Fort Wayne to pursue my teaching career. I have worked at Sylvan Learning Center in Fort Wayne since 1993. I love working at Sylvan, especially when I get to tutor students in Reading, Math, Study Skills, Writing, or whatever the student needs help with. I have a daughter, Ella Rose, who was born in September 2005. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with Ella. We play, read, sing and watch movies together.
I was born in Hollywood, Florida, but moved to Fort Wayne at a young age. I graduated from Northrup High School in 2001. I attended Ball State University and graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education:Mathematics. I taught for three years in public schools. I got married in 2007 to my wife, Jamie. I love teaching because I can see the light turn on and the elation when someone understands something they never thought they could. I enjoy tutoring students in Math, Homework, Reading, and Study Skills. I enjoy reading, watching movies, and playing all kinds of games from video games to board games and paper/pencil RPGs.
I was born and raised in Van Wert, Ohio, where I attended Van Wert High School. I was a band member, Spanish Club officer, and in the top third of my class. I then attended Ohio State University and graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education and a Bachelor's of Arts in both English and History. I teach Math at Ward High School for Fort Wayne Community Schools. I started at Sylvan in August 2005 where I tutor students in Math, Reading, Homework, Study Skills, and Writing. My current interests are Linguistics, Film, and Computer Science. I dabble in speaking five languages, but none fluently. I can also speak seven programming languages. I watch a ton of movies and enjoy playing X-Box Live trying not to be a target on Halo!
After attending, Bryan High School in Bryan, Ohio, I went on to get my B.S. in Chemistry Education from Bowling Green State University. Following graduation I taught Physics and Chemistry for two years at Cardinal Stritch High School. I have moderated and advised student leaders in many activities including Drama, Science Club, and the FIRST Robotics team at Toledo Technology Academy. I currently teach Chemistry at Northrop High School for Fort Wayne Community Schools. I began tutoring at Sylvan in 2011 working with students in the areas of Math, Reading, Writing, Homework, and study skills. In my free time, I enjoy camping, singing, playing trumpet, guitar, and piano.
I am originally from Indiana where I attended Ball State University and earned A B.S. in Elementary Education with a concentration in Reading. After graduating, I taught kindergarten for a year at Waterloo Elementary School. After a tough decision, I chose to substitute teach the next year at Fort Wayne Community Schools. I then moved to Rhode Island and was a substitute and work at the Sylvan center there. I am now back in the Fort and working as a Title 1 Interventionist at Franke Park Elementary School as well as tutoring at Sylvan. I love working with students with Math, Reading, and Writing skills. In my spare time, I like to read, cook, roller blade, take walks with my dog, and watch my boyfriend play baseball. Go Red Sox!
I am from Massachusetts where I taught school for four years. I received my B.S. in Elementary Education from Framingham State College. I have 15 credits toward my Masters in Elementary Guidance Counseling and am also certified in Business Management from IPFW. I started working at Sylvan Learning in Fort Wayne in August of 2003. I enjoy tutoring students in Reading, Math, Study Skills, ACT/SAT Test Prep, and Homework Support. I have three children and one grandchild. We share our house with two Mini Dachshunds, a Rottweiler/Australian Shepherd mix and four cats. I love to travel and have been to Germany, France, Switzerland, Croatia and Bosnia/Herzegovina and all across the United States.
My interest in mathematics began at Washington High School in South Bend. It led me to pursue a degree in Math and French Education at Ball State. After graduation, I was blessed to receive an offer to teach at Concordia Lutheran High School. For 28 years, I taught Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra II, and Honors Algebra II. During that time, I also coached girls’ basketball and girls’ track. It is always a joy to see the light bulb go on when a student understanding something that they have struggled with in math. I also pursued a Master’s degree in Mathematics at IPFW. I began tutoring students in Math Homework, as well as Reading, Study Skills and ACT/SAT Test Prep at Sylvan in Fort Wayne in August 2010. In my spare time, I enjoy cross-stitch, reading, and searching garage sales and flea markets for Mickey Mouse collectibles.
I grew up in a preacher’s family, which required us to move around northern Indiana. Never staying in one place more than six years, I eventually graduated from South Adams High School in Berne. I went to study Elementary Education at Ball State University where I earned my degree in 2001. While attending Ball State I met my wife, whom teaches at Haverhill Elementary in Southwest Allen Community Schools. We have four children, two girls and two boys. Besides my family, my interests include participating in and following various sports. I also enjoy spending time with friends, watching Star Wars movies, or reading my favorite author C.S. Lewis. I started tutoring at the Fort Wayne Sylvan Learning Center in September of 2005. I tutor in Math, Reading, Writing, Study Skills, and Homework Support.
