What I love about my job is seeing a plan come together: skills mastered, communication among parents, teachers, kids, and Sylvan, confidence rising, and goals being met. I graduated from ISU and after teaching a few years, I bought a Baskin-Robbins. Luckily, I found Sylvan and could bring my background in education and business together. Our center has been honored often for keeping high standards. As past director of the year, I strive for continued success each school year.
I grew up in LaOtto, Indiana, on a farm with my dad and brother until I graduated from East Noble High School. I then moved to Bloomington where I attended Indiana University. I majored in Elementary Education and graduated in 1992. Upon graduation, I moved to Fort Wayne to pursue my teaching career. I have worked at Sylvan Learning Center in Fort Wayne since 1993. I love working at Sylvan, especially when I get to tutor students in Reading, Math, Study Skills, Writing, or whatever the student needs help with. I have a daughter, Ella Rose, who was born in September 2005. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with Ella. We play, read, sing and watch movies together.
I grew up in Akron, Ohio, and went to Kent State University. I graduated in 2005 with a degree in Early Childhood Education. I have taught in Ohio, South Carolina, and North Carolina. My husband and I were married in 2011 and we moved from North Carolina to Indiana in 2012. I received my Masters in Education 2013. I currently am at Eel River Elementary of Northwest Allen County Schools assisting in the ELL classroom. I joined the Sylvan staff in Fort Wayne as a tutor in January of 2013. I love working with students in Reading, Math, Writing, and Study Skills programs. When I am not teaching, I love to read. The Twilight series is one of my favorites. I also love to scrapbook and travel. During the summer, I love to go to Lake Erie and go fishing with my dad and shopping with my mom.
I graduated from Snider High School and then enrolled at Defiance College studying Middle School Education in the subjects of Social Studies, Reading, and Language Arts. I am a librarian in the Children's Section of the Tecumseh Branch of the Allen County Public Library. I love tutoring students at Sylvan in Reading, Math, Writing, Study Skills, and homework support. I have seen many students gain skills and confidence since I started at Sylvan Learning of Fort Wayne in August of 2003! I enjoy reading biographies, cooking, spending time with friends, family, and my two cats.
I was born and raised in Decatur, Indiana and attended Belmont High School. After high school, I attended the University of Saint Francis and majored in Secondary Mathematics Education and Special Education-Mild Intervention. I was also a four-year starter and senior captain for the men's soccer team at U.S.F. I am currently teaching Math at Prince Chapman Academy in Fort Wayne. I have been a tutor at Sylvan since January of 2013. At Sylvan, I tutor in Math, Algebra, Homework , and Reading. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, playing sports working, playing video games, and reading.
I have been teaching at Sylvan Learning of Fort Wayne since 2004. I tutor kids in a variety of areas including, Math, Reading, Writing, Homework, and Study Skills. I have a library degree from the University of Michigan, and I have worked at the Allen County Public Library and Lincoln National Life Insurance Company. When our children were born I became a stay-at-home mom, and reading books was one of favorite activities. I am the librarian for Croniger Elementary in Fort Wayne Community Schools and at my church. My husband and I live in Fort Wayne, and our three children are now grown. My hobbies are reading, flower gardening, and sewing. I continue to enjoy reading and learning, and teaching children!
I was born and raised in Van Wert, Ohio, where I attended Van Wert High School. I was a band member, Spanish Club officer, and in the top third of my class. I then attended Ohio State University and graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education and a Bachelor's of Arts in both English and History. I teach Math at Ward High School for Fort Wayne Community Schools. I started at Sylvan in August 2005 where I tutor students in Math, Reading, Homework, Study Skills, and Writing. My current interests are Linguistics, Film, and Computer Science. I dabble in speaking five languages, but none fluently. I can also speak seven programming languages. I watch a ton of movies and enjoy playing X-Box Live trying not to be a target on Halo!
I grew up in a little town on Lake Michigan called New Buffalo. I graduated from New Buffalo High School and then attended Tri-State University where I majored in Elementary Education. I was very lucky to get a teaching job right after college at Henry Park Elementary School in Angola, Indiana. I taught fifth grade there for eight years. In 2004, I got married. Seven years later my daughter, Emilia, was born and then in 2012 my son, Sebastian, was born. After my daughter was born, I decided to be a stay-at-home mom. In February of 2013, I became a part-time tutor at Sylvan and enjoy working with students in many different areas including, Reading, Math,and Writing. I am very excited to be working with students again!
After growing up outside of Chicago, I attended Concordia University in River Forest, Illinois and graduated with a degree in secondary education; my major was English. After graduation, I was the academic advisor at Concordia University and Macomb Community College. In 2002, my husband and I moved to Fort Wayne and had our first of three daughters. Since having children, I've stayed home with them but still enjoy working part-time. Before coming to Sylvan in 2006, I taught a college and life success course at Ivy Tech. At Sylvan, I tutor in Reading, Math, Writing, and Homework. As any mother knows, I do not have a lot of time to myself, but when I do my hobbies include book club, gardening, travel, attending live theater performances, and church activities.
After attending, Bryan High School in Bryan, Ohio, I went on to get my B.S. in Chemistry Education from Bowling Green State University. Following graduation I taught Physics and Chemistry for two years at Cardinal Stritch High School. I have moderated and advised student leaders in many activities including Drama, Science Club, and the FIRST Robotics team at Toledo Technology Academy. I currently teach Chemistry at Northrop High School for Fort Wayne Community Schools. I began tutoring at Sylvan in 2011 working with students in the areas of Math, Reading, Writing, Homework, and study skills. In my free time, I enjoy camping, singing, playing trumpet, guitar, and piano.
I was born in Hollywood, Florida, but moved to Fort Wayne at a young age. I graduated from Northrup High School in 2001. I attended Ball State University and graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education:Mathematics. I taught for three years in public schools. I got married in 2007 to my wife, Jamie. I love teaching because I can see the light turn on and the elation when someone understands something they never thought they could. I enjoy tutoring students in Math, Homework, Reading, and Study Skills. I enjoy reading, watching movies, and playing all kinds of games from video games to board games and paper/pencil RPGs.
I am originally from Indiana where I attended Ball State University and earned A B.S. in Elementary Education with a concentration in Reading. After graduating, I taught kindergarten for a year at Waterloo Elementary School. After a tough decision, I chose to substitute teach the next year at Fort Wayne Community Schools. I then moved to Rhode Island and was a substitute and work at the Sylvan center there. I am now back in the Fort and working as a Title 1 Interventionist at Franke Park Elementary School as well as tutoring at Sylvan. I love working with students with Math, Reading, and Writing skills. In my spare time, I like to read, cook, roller blade, take walks with my dog, and watch my boyfriend play baseball. Go Red Sox!
