Meet the Tutors
The tutors of Brownstown Sylvan Learning Center are all Sylvan trained and certified so that they can best address your child’s academic needs. Our tutors are dedicated to working closely with you and your child in order to help your child reach his or her goals. We start by pinpointing your child’s strengths and areas for improvement through the Sylvan Skills Assessment®. From there, our Brownstown Center staff develops a personalized learning plan for your child and offers unique insights about what methods will work best with your child. Ultimately, our tutors will build a relationship with your child and provide a fun, engaging, and rewarding learning environment. The Brownstown Sylvan Learning Center staff consists of highly experienced and established educational professionals who take great pride in their work with students who want to catch up, keep up, or get ahead.

Connie Scheel
Director of Education
Connie earned both her B.S. in Elementary Education and her M.S. in Education with Reading Specialization from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri. Connie brings over 20 years of teaching experience to Sylvan. Her experiences include: Pre-K through 8th grade as a substitute teacher; private and public school elementary tutor; Pre-K through adult computer enrichment instructor; and educational travel leader for high school trips to Australia and New Zealand.
Dana

Dana earned a B.S. in Science Education from Wayne State University and a Master's Degree in the Art of Teaching from Marygrove College. She is currently working on her Master's Degree in Science Education at Lawrence Tech. She currently teaches at Randall Elementary in Taylor. She feels that Sylvan is fun and that with a small group of students, you can really get to know them.
Andrea

Andrea is currently teaching Language Arts to her middle school students. Andrea's love of teaching is evident in the interest and care that she takes with each one of our students.
Kathy
Instructor
Kathy earned a B.S. in Science and a Master's Degree in Reading at Eastern Michigan University. She is substitute teaching in the Huron, Monroe and Wayne County School Districts. She enjoys the great relationships she has built with the students at Sylvan.
Jeremy
Instructor
Jeremy earned a B.A. in Geography and History at Eastern Michigan University and is in the process of completing a degree in Mathematics from Eastern Michigan University. He is a substitute teacher in the Wayne-Westland and Crestwood School Districts. He served as a Peace Corps Volunteer for two years, where he taught English as a Second Language and Computers. He enjoys working with students in small group formats at Sylvan.
