Sterling Hts. Sylvan Announces Fall Hours
It's that time again...The Sterling Hts. Sylvan Learning Center will begin a new Fall schedule on Monday, August 29th 2011. Students may attend classes in one-hour or two-hour blocks (as recommended) any time Monday through Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 pm. Friday instruction will be available beginning at 4:00 and continuing until 6:00 pm and Saturdays we offer 9:00 am or 11:00 am starting times (in two-hour blocks) beginning Saturday, September 10th.
Parents: Take the WORK out of HOMEWORK!
Many people don't realize that not only do Sylvan Learning Centers NOT assign homework; we actually ASSIST students with their homework from school! Besides coming here to fill in those missing skills gaps, students find help and support with work from school that they find difficult. A definite advantage over facing the homework wars at home!
Back to School: Tips for Students
Students:
*Get Organized
-use separate, labeled notebooks for each class
-create files for each subject to hold assignments, essays, handouts and notes taken during class
*Set Educational Goals
- Set goals that are measurable, specific, reasonable and have personal value
*Stay on Schedule
- Create a detailed school schedule including all classes, assignments and key dates, such as project deadlines and test dates. Fill in new dates as they arise.
- Schedule specific time for studying, projects and extracurricular activities. The more thorough the schedule, the more helpful it will be to you.
*Think Positive
- Going back to school means reconnecting with old friends, meeting new people, resuming fun extracurricular activities, learning more about your favorite subjects and improving on last year's performance.
