Our Sylvan trained and certified tutors are dedicated to your child’s success. Working together with you, we will:

Brenda J Jegede
Executive Director
Brenda has been with Sylvan Learning Center since 1999. She is truly "TRUE BLUE" with Masters Degrees in Public Health Administration and Social Work from the U of M in Ann Arbor. She has worked for the Michigan Health Department and for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, focusing on health education. Brenda is a very committed member of her church and centers her life around her daughter (14), son (12)and husband of 15 years.
Elizabeth Kravetz
Director of Education
Elizabeth received her Bachelor's of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Michigan University in April 1997. She is certified K-8th in math, science and English. She taught math for grades 6-8 at Marist Academy in Pontiac for two years. For the four years after that, she taught 6-8 grade math and science for Ferndale Public Schools. She received her Master's Degree in Special Education with dual endorsements in Learning Disabilities and Emotional Impairments from Oakland University in Rochester in December 2007. She is married and enjoys spending time with her family camping and riding their ATV in the woods.
Krista Campbell
Teacher
Krista Campbell is a Math and Algebra teacher here at Sylvan. She has a Bachelors Degree in Electronic Engineering. She is currently pursuing her Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood. She was also a pre-school teacher. Krista enjoys roller skating, swimming, singing and laughing. She also enjoys working with the students at Sylvan.
Christopher Coffin
Teacher
Christopher Coffin has been teaching at the Auburn Hills center for close to 6 years. He also teaches Chemistry at the University of Michigan in Flint. He enjoys sharing his knowledge with the students, helping them to build skills, and gain confidence. Chris earned his Bachelor’s of Science degree from the University of Michigan-Flint. In his spare time, he likes to play hockey, football, softball and kickball.
Tonya Coffin
Teacher
Tonya Coffin has taught at Sylvan for 6 years. Tonya graduated from the University of Michigan in Flint in 2004. She teaches 6th grade Science and 6th & 7th grade Social Studies at Carlton Middle School in Sterling Heights. She loves softball, reading, playing kickball and cheering her Michigan Football team on to victory. Go Blue!
Lisa Bortz
Teacher
Lisa started with Sylvan in February 2009. She graduated from Saginaw Valley State University in December 2007 with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education wth a minor in Mathematics and English. In her free time, she enjoys reading, spending time with her family, walking her dog and/or traveling.
Rebecca Lowe
Teacher
Rebecca Lowe joined Sylvan in May 2008. She graduated from Western Michigan University as an English major, History minor and is currently a substitute teacher for Lake Orion Community Schools. She has started her Masters Degree in Reading at Oakland University. This past year she also taught Theater at Scripps Middle School in Lake Orion. In her free time, she likes to read and spend time with her dogs, cats, and horses.
Jasmin Saleh
Tutor
Jasmin graduated from Wayne State University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education majoring in Language Arts. She has worked as an English as a Second Language instructor, teaching English to South Koreans online. She is starting an ESL Endorsement program at Oakland University.
Jessica Story
Tutor
Jessca joined Sylvan in November 2009. She graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and a double major in History and Earth Science. She has tutored in Detroit Public Schools. In her free time she enjoys going to art shows and playing with her cat, Baker.
