"Jenny entered high school with the goal of ending high school with a 4.0, then algebra kicked her in the butt and she was so despondent. I was worried that a bad grade her first year of high school may change her attitude towards school negatively and she may not strive for stellar grades. Luckily, because of Sylvan, Jenny received the help she needed. She fully admits that she did not know necessary math basics. So not only did Sylvan help her with her Algebra, just as importantly, Jenny is learning the materials she should have brought with her to high school. I’m confident that this experience will positively impact the remainder of her education. Now I can understand why some children go down the wrong path in life when they do not receive assistance when necessary. Every aspect of their life is impacted when their self-esteem suffers and then it snow-balls……………..

Another Sylvan Success Story!

"" . . . If parents ever doubt whether the investment in their children is worth it, just point them to this Sylvan success story. Derrik started Sylvan in Grade 2 because it was felt he was behind in his reading/spelling skills, and in grade 6 he was diagnosed with learning disabilities after showing a consistent 30 point differential between verbal and nonverbal scores on standardized tests. We opted not to tell him about this(he still doesn't know as a college junior)because we felt this negative label limits people and instead kept him in normal classes and supplemented his learning and study habits with Sylvan (from grade 2-12). He has consistently maintained an honors average, even at university away from parents in another state, and this Wall Fellows program (at Coastal Carolina University) just adds to the positive outcomes. This is for the teachers, too, who may not always know if their time and attention at the Sylvan Centers make a difference in the long run. Thank you all!!""

Tickled pink

"Dear Kathy and Patricia,
". . .a huge "THANK YOU" is in order. Domenic received his first report card yesterday and we were tickled pink! All of his grades were super! Last year at this time, I remember contacting your office becuase his first report card was NOT what we were accustomed to. Upon having him tested at your facility, you helped confirm that we were not crazy parents and that he was reading and comprehending above grade level. Your program helped fill in the gaps and he continues to excel. Mid-year I had some concerns about his math skills and we had him tested. We switched over to the math program and now he is AHEAD in his class with regard to the actual "skills." Many thanks to all of his instructors for all of their hard work, especially Clint, who continued to challenge him and make him "earn" his tokens. It obviously paid (and will continue to pay) off!""
