Meet the Tutors
Our Sylvan trained and certified tutors are dedicated to your child’s success. Working together with you, we will:
- Pinpoint your child’s learning needs using the Sylvan Skills Assessment®
- Develop a personalized learning plan based on your child’s goals
- Offer unique insights about what will work for your child
- Teach each lesson the way your child learns best
- Build a relationship with your child to provide learning that’s fun, engaging and rewarding
Ms. Jennifer Peraino
Director of Education
Ms. Peraino started working for Sylvan in April, 2004. She was promoted to Director of Education in October, 2006.
Ms. Judy Wells
Teacher
Ms. Wells started working for the Sylvan Learning Center in 1997. For over a decade she has helped Flint Sylvan Learning students of all ages with Reading, Writing, Study Skills, and with the ACT.
Ms. Jessica Johnson
Teacher
Ms. Johnson has worked at the Sylvan Learning Center in Flint since 2001. She has helped students of all ages with reading, writing and math skills. She is also a very effective homework support instructor.
Mr. David Osterberg
Teacher
Mr. Osterberg has taught H.S. and grade school math at the Sylvan Learning Center in Flint since 2004. He is also proficient in ACT preparation.
Mr. Gary Brainard
Center Director
Mr. Brainard has been Center Director since the Sylvan Learning center opened in Flint sixteen years ago.
Dr. Cortland Hillman
Owner and Operator
This is the second Sylvan Learning Center that Dr. Hillman has owned. He originally started the center in Saginaw before selling it to the current Director and Owner, Mr. Yoder. Dr. Hillman has worked in the educational industry for over thirty years. He has spent more than twenty years as a Sylvan Learning Center Owner.
