Test Prep
Michigan Merit Exam-MME
Every March, high school juniors are required to take the Michigan Merit Exam. The MME has 3 components: The ACT, Work Keys, and Michigan Content Tests. The ACT Exam satisfies the same requirement that "regular" ACT Exams do. Work Keys is a 3 part test covering math, reading and information discovery skills. The Michigan Content Tests review students' knowledge in social studies, math and science. Sylvan Prep covers all 3 parts with 37 hours of content review, test taking strategies, and practice tests in a small group setting. Together with a student's high school GPA, ACT scores are used by colleges to determine whom they will admit. Although Work Keys and the Michigan content tests have no effect on college admission decisions, a strong score in both makes a student eligible for the Michigan Promise Scholarship ($4,000). For a student seriously considering college, a robust performance on all 3 parts of the MME is essential. Sylvan's ACT Prep begins early January.
