Success Stories

Carlie's Success With Sylvan Study Skills

"Dear Steven and Staff,

I would like to thank you for your instruction for my daughter, Carlie, who attended Sylvan for almost five months working on the Study Skills unit. Carlie has become more organized, disciplined and most importantly more eager to get all A’s. Her current GPA is 3.8 and she is very excited! While her grades were not bad before, the study skills have helped her layout her week and understand the value of studying."

Just a Quick Note

"Austin is pulling straight A's so far this year! He completes all of his work at school and seems to breeze through everything. His teacher says he is doing fantastic and is staying focused all day in class. He has written some amazing creative writing assignments as well. He is very proud of himself, and I am proud of him as well. Thank you so much for helping him gain confidence in himself and success in school."

Chosen to Lead with Jumpin' In

"Recently, my son Robert was hand-selected as one of fifteen students to participate in a program at Keicher Elementary called Jumpin' In. He had the opportunity to be involved in hands-on activities enriching his education, and even produced a video for the entire school to start the new school year! It's wonderful for me as a parent to see him so excited about learning and school.

He completed his academic reading and math essentials programs at Sylvan. Through his hard work at Sylvan, he has developed the skills and confidence as a student to lead and excel at school. Robert is not only well-prepared for this year, but is prepared to grow for many years to come."

Student of the Week - Never Too Good to be True

"Our daughter, Valencia, hated going to school in May of 2008. She would say, "I'm failing!" She was only in first grade. We didn't know anyone who had gone to Sylvan, but we looked into it because we didn't know what else to do. Nothing we tried was helping.

We took Valencia to the Jackson, Michigan Sylvan Learning Center and the Director, Catherine Briggs, recommended the Beginning Reading program. What Mrs. Briggs told us about the changes we would see in Valencia sounded too good to be true. Even though we felt a little leery, we started the program.

Valencia loved going to the Jackson Center. She talked about how nice the teachers were, and she began to love to learn. This past fall, she went in to school with no problem. Every time she went to Sylvan, she would be so excited to tell us about characters and stories she was reading. She plays "Sylvan" at home and uses bingo chips to give her dolls tokens. We couldn't be happier to learn that Mrs. Briggs was right about the difference we would see in our little girl.

She got "Student of the Week" at school today."

From a Friend on Facebook . . .

"Sylvan has done wonders for our grandson. His confidence level has soared. He is a special little man. I would recommend this to anyone."
